I'm looking at the Nutribullet pro for juicing and making protein shakes. Anyone have one? What are your favorite smoothie/juice combinations?
We have jack lalane juicer. Apple carrot, apple strawberry, pineapple, orange and strawberry some faves ours!
I like vegetable juices. They're better for you than just fruit juices; just imagine all the sugar you consume when you drink 1 glass, packed with several fruits, but without the fiber. Vegetable juices are better because they don't have all that sugar, but still have the minerals and vitamins. And less calories! The trick is to mix a little fruit to make it taste better. For example: - spinach, cucumber, celery and a green apple. Nice and green, I love the way it looks. - carrots, tomatoes, apple, with a little ginger
The nutribullet pulverizes the fruit and vegetables, so you get the fiber!:thumb: plus my drink was half veg, half fruit. Thanks for the combination ideas.
Oh then it's more like a smoothie. If it has the fiber, it's so much better for you. I have the Jack La Lane juicer, and I don't use it as much as I'd like, because it's a hassle to clean up. And I'd like it more if I had all the fiber. When I make my juices, I like to make sure they look good, so I want either a green drink, or orange, or red, or even burgundy (beets and lemon, yummy). So I don't mix tomatoes with greens, because then it's just an ugly brown drink. Sometimes, when I have an apple Martini in the evening, I add freshly made green apple juice to it. It's interesting how much it energizes me
I'll usually just throw in whatever I have laying around... and it usually comes out good . Definitely include kale in your mixes though. You get all the nutrients and the taste is completely masked.
We have a Nutribullet .... and my wife makes a lot of different blends ... that come out in different "colors" ..... They are very good... I never ask her about the ingredients....... Guess I'm very trusting....
I have a Nutribullet, I love it. I always put spinach and kale, and then I add fruit (usually berry assortment or mango/pineapple) and protein powder with a splash of almond milk.
My parents stopped by after we got the Nutribulletyesterday so we made them drinks too! Got up this morning and ran with dh and ds....we made 3 nutriblast shakes after that...so far we've used more than half a big box of spinach, a bunch of apples, bananas and pears...son put an orange in his this morning and I put yogurt in mine...lauding bike now, headed to farm later for more veg!
Is the taste more like the fruit? How would it taste with a shot of rum I think I need one before I watch Walking Dead tonight. Seriously, I've been thinking of buying a juicer. I have a magic bullet though. Never tried anything other then fruit.
:haha::lol: my dad asked the same question. I'm finding the greens mellow out some of the fruitiness while the fruits kind of 'un veg' the greens...
Bought myself a Nutribullet today. Tonight, I'm browsing recipes and making a shopping list for tomorrow.
Let me now what you make! Loving my morning blast shakes...want to try a few entree recipes this weekend.:thumb:
Raspberries make everything taste good I think I'd like the nutribullet - I get my fruits in everyday, but I'm still not great about getting enough varied veggies.
First try: spinach, apple, banana, grapes, pineapple, carrot, chia and flax seeds. Tasty, but not as cold as I would have preferred, and I need to get used to a green drink. I stocked up on fruit, veggies and almond milk this morning so that I can experiment a bit.
We use our juicer for our special (and disgusting) "hangover elixir" but that's it. I do want to start doing more with it though. I cook a ton yet we still have unopened appliances left over from our wedding registry. My goal this summer is to break them out and experiment with our juicer.
I checked out the Nutribullet online, and I like the concept. Should I get it if I already have a juicer? I know it's different, you can actually add nuts, and other stuff, and that is a huge plus. For example you can't use bananas for juicing, but could put it in a smoothie. But it's $80, almost as much as my juicer cost. So I'm debating. Although right now they have a special, you buy 2 for the price of one. Anyone wants to get one, we could share the cost
My wife makes these things all the time,. Peaches, berries, kale, always bananas, walnuts, chia seeds, flax seeds, etc. I can drink it but I like the fruit ones better. Has that bullet to make them. Powerful little thing.
I have tried lots of combinations. I'm hoping to get back to juicing once the farmers markets start opening up in my area. I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet but if you use ginger beware that it's very strong and you can only use a tiny amount or your juice might be undrinkable (I learned the hard way LOL).
I have not tried celery. I think will just skip ginger from now on. I had no idea it would be that strong!
The one I bought was $149 before bed bath and beyond coupon. I don't think the 2 for $80 version is going to Have the same power....
I'm loving my concoctions! They have all tasted yummy, but the colour of some is a little questionable . Standard are spinach, flax or chia seeds and unsweetened almond milk, then I add whatever fruit and veggies strikes my fancy, usually apples, berries, carrots and a bit of pineapple or watermelon. I've experimented a bit with beets and sweet peppers, but need to still play around with it. For my afternoon snack today, I've hit upon a keeper--an orange, a handful of baby carrots and about half a cup of fresh pineapple, topped up with almond milk. Tastes like summer!
