:woot:I want a classroom website. The one offered through the school district is just not...well, userfriendly. I want something easy to add to and you can add backgrounds too.
Post a link to yours so I can see!

I suggest setting up your own Wordpress Site. They are SUPER user friendly. I did mine through a company called Vans Websites, because they specialize in Wordpress and can do some pretty neat stuff. I think they have a deal coming out soon too...where they will build your site and you get it free for the first couple of months and if you don't like it, then you don't have to keep it. But if you decide you like it, its something like $50 a month to host it and keep it running with all the upgrades you need.

But, like I said, you can build one yourself. I just didn't have time, and don't have time to keep it updated (on the techy side of things) LOL.

    Good luck!

Look into Shutterfly share sites. We use one for our daily parent communication. Very user friendly - completely customizable and best of all its FREE!

$50 a month is just ridiculous for hosting.

Unless you mean $50 a year, then it is reasonable

Our school uses schoolworld. I"m not sure the price because my school pays for it and requires that all teachers keep an updated website.

I really like it. It is VERY user friendly and has fun backgrounds that you can change depending on the season or holiday. There's also an application on there that allows you to post homework and due dates and all that fun stuff.

TeacherWeb is quite easy to maintain, and it's pretty reasonable--$39 a year. Our school provides pages for those who want them, but I think that will change next year when we go to a district provider.

As you see, I use Google Sites. Free, easy to use, can link to other sites or upload documents/link them. I like it. I have used classjump.com, which was also free and fairly easy to use, but my students and parents sometimes got confused trying to find things or figure out due dates because of the way it posted.

We have to use the website that the school uses, but I use several different hosting sites and then link to the school site. I hate the format of the one we have to use, but I do the best I can!

I just started one on wikispaces. I don't think it can get very elaborate. It's very simple to create and edit. Each of my students can have/design their own page which is directly connected to mine. Free for teachers.

I use teacherweb. I love it: it's easy to customize, maintain and update, and it's relatively private.

You could always just get a free blog. It can be set up similar to a website. Blogger has pages that can be used just like a website.
