Someone contacted me saying that she was getting errors when trying to post. If you have any problems, can you post as many details here as possible?

The forums have become incredibly busy over the past few weeks so I am wondering if it's time to upgrade the server again!

    Thanks!

Amanda, for me it depends on the time of day. I thought the same thing as you, that it's because the forum is much busier during the late afternoons and evenings. I have no problems in the early mornings and late at night.

On occasion when I am posting I will get this message:

The operation timed out when attempting to contact adz.atozteacherstuff.com.

When it happens I just click on "ok" and it goes away.

    Hope this helps. :)

This type of error is usually a connection problem and unrelated to the server. Thank you for including the details.

I actually have gotten a memory error a time or two from the server, but it was only when I was moving a thread from one forum to another. Hopefully it's not a widespread issue.

No error problems, but I've noticed in the evening the site is slow...but that has just been in the last week or so.

I had one yesterday afternoon, and it was a site problem. I was in too much of a hurry to make and kind of deal out of it. I can't recall the spew it gave back to me, but it was when I was starting a new post in the "Prayers Requested" section. I had to go Back, Copy what I had written, and saved it on a quick text document to try to repost later.

I think today was just generally a slow computer kind of day- I was out shopping and it took FOREVER for my ATM card to clear (not just mine- other people's in line too!! ) Also slow for my email to come up and pages to load- it seems to be better now though.

Please keep this updated if you encounter any errors!

I'm monitoring things in case an upgrade is required, but I don't want to jump the gun because it is rather expensive.

    Thanks!

I actually had a memory error just yesterday (last night, actually. maybe around 9-10pm). I was trying to search on the term "catholic school" in the a to z forums. I got the memory error thing, so then i just tried searching on the term "catholic" and it worked just fine.

I wasn't logged in, though, so I didn't know if that had anything to do with it.

    Hope this helps!

Amanda, I'm trying to post an attachment, and this is the error I get:

    The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
    * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

This is a very general connection problem from your browser. It's hard to tell for sure what caused it. It may be that the server is busy and responding slowly, or because the Internet connection is temporarily interrupted. You could probably get it to go through if you try again. If you get an error generated by this server, however, it's definitely the forums. I think the one that others enountered had to do with the number of bytes being exhausted.

I got this one when using the search engine:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in /home/teacherchat/search.php on line 1062

Is that one you're asking about?

I just did some more research on this, and I think I may have been able to make a small change that will help avoid this error in the future. YAY! (Thanks for posting the exact error - It helped me find the answer.)
