I can't even believe I'm asking this! When the iPhone was initially released I thought it was positively drool-worthy. I had to own one. But I never got one (too expensive) and I ended up with an Evo. I've been pretty happy with my Evo, but my contract expires in 2 weeks and Apple just announced the 4S will be $99 with a new contract. The two things that have me holding back: a smaller screen than I am used to, and there's no app on iPhone for something called SwiftKey, which is an amazing keyboard replacement for Android that very accurately (it's almost creepy) predicts your next word as you type. I'm terrible at making decisions!
My hubs made the switch from an Iphone to a Droid. Within a few hours, he was back at the store getting his Iphone back. I can't remember the exact reason he wasn't happy with the Droid, but he likes his Iphone.
You will never regret getting an iPhone. I've actually never had a Droid so I admit I'm biased but I love, love, love my iPhone. It's an addiction for me and I'm trying to be better about now relying on my phone 100% of the day.
I prefer my Android phone to the iphones I have tried out. When getting an Android phone, you need to get certain phones, otherwise you get a low quality phone
I love my iPhone and I know I could never switch to a droid. My BIL recently renewed his contract and went from the iPhone to a droid (HTC something). He hates it and will be switching back to the iPhone.
Worth noting, a Droid is a specific phone, Android is the operating system. They often get mixed up. I like my Android phone! I hate using BF's iPhone, even though I'm a big Apple fan. It's always freezing up too. All of the plans are too expensive for me anyway. I pay $40/mo with Virgin, no contract. The service is good here.
I miss my android's physical keyboard but I do not miss the market. I like the itunes better. Having said that, it's been several years. It may be more up to speed now.
Absolutely! I had a Samsung something-or-other for 2 days. I positively couldn't stand how slow it was and how much it froze up. I returned it for my Evo, such a difference! Now my Evo is 2 years old and slow and laggy, freezes up, and something is wrong with the antenna (more drooped calls than I can track!) I decided to give iPhone a shot. If it was good enough for the brilliant Apple team I bet it will be good enough for me :thumb: Anyone planning to splurge on the 5?
I just recently switched from a android (granted, an older bad one: samsung moment) to the 4s. Honestly, I love it, because it seems to run faster and has not crashed on me the way my old one did. The BF had an Evo and is still singing the praises of his new 4s too. The only things I miss: 1. More free, cool apps in the store 2. Widgets. I loved my widgets.
Do you pay $40 for data or is your overall plan (minutes, texting) $40? I pay about $90 for my plan and it makes me sick. I do love my phone but have thought about switching companies.
You weren't asking me, but I pay $80 mo for unlimited everything on Sprint. If I had to pay for a data plan with Sprint I'd jump ship for someone else. Sprint isn't that great but I love not having to monitor my data! I use a LOT (GPS, Netflix and Pandora just about daily)
Pisces, let me know what you think about making the switch. I'm debating the same thing, and I know that I would miss my Swype keyboard!
Totally agree!! I'm actually also looking into getting an Iphone and I have Sprint. AT&T offers a 0.99 phone but I would pay about $50 more a month with a limited decent data plan that I'm not sure will be enough. I'm not 100% happy with sprint but the it is the only one that I know that offers unlimited data!! So, I would rather pay about 100 per phone and save on the data plan in the long turn.
I pay $40 for everything. Unlimited data/texting and 1200 minutes per month. I think the plan is actually $45/month now, but they didn't raise mine. I'm very happy with it. All of their plans have unlimited data. The one that also has unlimited minutes is $55/month. Although it's excellent in my area, their coverage is more limited than some of the other companies (but I believe they use the Sprint network), so I would just check the map here: http://www.virginmobileusa.com/check-cell-phone-coverage
Same here. I have the iphone 3gs and a Nexus Tablet. I really do love the andoid OS. I really liked my iphone until I updated it to the newest os. Now, my iphone has become sluggish.... Too bad. I haven't invested too much in itunes music so I think eventually when my contract ends I will look into other types of phones. iphone is cool, but I think androids are more technically interesting and allows you to do more.
I've never owned any kind of Mac product in my life. In a couple of yrs, I plan to get iMac. Maybe I should also get an iPhone by then as well.
They are but well worth it! I absolutely love mine I am hoping that they let me switch my school issued laptop to a Mac this year.
Yeah, I'm sure I'll love Mac products once I have them. I say in a couple of yrs because by then, I would have graduated from grad school & it will be a nice graduation gift for myself & I don't want to switch computer systems while I'm taking my online classes still...plus, by then, it will really be time to replace my Dell desktop. (My Dell laptop should be replaced too.)
I've heard that they are worth the money, which is why I hope to save up instead of buying a cheaper version.
This was my biggest issue in switching to iPhone. I LOVE SWYPE. But, I've found that the iPhone's predicting text is really just as good. Maybe slightly slower, but I had to tell myself that a couple seconds was not going to kill me! And, when I use my husband's Droid and try to Swype, it seems so cumbersome and doesn't predict as well as my 4s. He's thinking about getting a 5, but with a lower price tag on the just as comparable 4s, he may go that way. The thing about Apple is you know exactly what you are getting. It's just like PC's and Windows-all the different brands, each with their annoying quirks. With all of the phones that run the Android OS, you can never quite be sure if you'll get what you want. With Apple products, WYSIWYG.
Oh, and I bought my Macbook Pro from my school this summer after I left. It's a 2010, and they charged me $400. Score!!
