We head back on Monday. I haven't gotten up before 8:00 for 90% of the summer. I have to be up and moving by 6:00 a.m., which means I need to start waking up at 5:45. I'm setting the alarm on my phone and the alarm clock.

    I always set 2 alarms.

I've been getting up at 6:30 all summer, but the school year means I have to get up at 4:30 ... we start Monday! :)

I charge my husband with being my fourth alarm the first few days. I had been staying up until five or six in the morning...when I suddenly had to be waking up. So I needed a little extra to know I would be awake. :)

I always set extra alarms for the first day, and then I wind up not sleeping well and waking up extra early anyways...

I'll be up at 5:30 on Monday morning!

Yes! I set an alarm clock, my phone alarm, and I will have my DH call to make sure I'm up since we will be on the way to work when I'm suppose to be waking up.

I always set a few extra alarms. Of course the first day I probably won't be sleeping much anyway!

Yep, makes me super nervous and I wake up a lot to check that the alarm is set.

I set 3 alarms. One alarm clock next to my bed, my cell phone next to my bed, and another alarm clock in the bathroom. I need all 3, the 2 next to my bed are louder, but I can just keep hitting the snooze button, and eventually I (after 30-40 minutes or so they would stop), and I could go to sleep. The one in the bathroom is not loud enough to definitely wake me up, but it's far enough that I have to get up and walk to over there to hit the snooze button.

I have to wake up early, so I set my alarms for around 5:20 am, which gives me 15 minutes to really get it together. It's hard!

I plan to set two alarms as everyone else noted.

During my student teaching, I got into a routine I hope not to get into again....I would be so excited and/or nervous about the next day (depending on what I would be doing) that I would be awake at 2 or 3 am. I did get a lot of my planning done in this early morning time. I usually got to school around 6:50. Unfortunately, I usually zonked right out when I got home around 3, and slept sometimes until around 7 or 8. So I was sleeping 3pm-7 or 8 pm and then again like midnight-2 or 3 am. It wasn't ideal to say the least....BUT, I never missed being up for school :D

I have used two alarms for years! I set my normal alarm clock next to my bed as well as my cell phone alarm. I overslept once my first year teaching. I was so mortified. They had to have a teacher cover my first period class, and I got to school about 1/2 hour late. Luckily, my administration just laughed it off, and it has never happened again.

I set two different times on my phone and have a separate alarm set by my bed. With all the alarms going off within a 10 minute span it's hard to keep hitting the snooze button!

I don't think so, since I've been getting up between 5:30 and 6 every morning with my husband--but who knows! I'm more afraid of miss placing my keys!! I'm horrible about keeping track of them... I've only locked myself out of the house once and couldn't get to work on time once in three years. :)

I haven't slept in since he went fishing one weekend with his buddies without me. I got THE best night's sleep and slept in until 9! he he he he.

I set 3 alarms. And then I test them each at least once before going to bed. It drives my husband crazy! But I'm paranoid!

This. I get a terrible night's sleep before the first day with kids because I wake up so often, convinced I slept through the alarm!

I've only overslept twice in 20 years, so it's not something I think about much. I'm usually too keyed up to sleep the night before school starts anyway. I set my one alarm and forget about it. I use my iPod alarm.

The two times I did oversleep, it was the fault of my alarm clock, which changed to a different time by itself!

I've been doing the same thing and am trying to reverse my schedule now although that doesn't seem to be happening. I always set 2 alarms as well just in case one doesn't go off. I normally can't sleep before the first day of school anyway.

Oh, and the dogs. The dogs have stomach alarms set for 4:38 (now that I'm getting up at 6:30). After a few days of me getting up at 4:30, their stomach alarms will go off around 4:20 ... so, I almost always get a cold nose poked against my cheek, never oversleeping.

I've got an uncanny internal clock...I wake up ten minutes before the alarm goes off despite whatever time it's set for.

This is my alarm as well. 7 days a week. A cold nose followed by a LARGE smacking paw if the stomach alarm is not satisfied! :p

And it seems I am not the only one who does not sleep well the night before school starts!

I wont worry. I'll sleep terribly as well! It's the nerves/excitement combo.

I use two alarms because I'm so paranoid of being late. The first week back to school I was so worried about sleeping in that I was waking up at around 4:45.

I will also get to school at Ridiculous A.M. I get more paranoid that my commute will suddenly get 30 minutes longer and I will leave crazy early. I do this for job interviews too. I end up sitting in the parking lot with my coffee like a total creeper.

You all are making me feel much better about my fear of oversleeping! On the morning of the first day of school, I always make certain that my mom and BF both call me to make sure I'm up.

I set several alarms on my phone, and then also set my real alarm clock which I almost never use. I really did oversleep last week during one of our inservice days, but luckily woke up with enough time to get there on time (I just didn't have much time to get ready).

Same here. I've never woken up that early in previous summers, but this one that's wrapping up, I woke up btwn 6:30 & 7 practically daily for some reason w/o an alarm. For work, I set my alarm for 5:45 too & arrive to work at either 7:15 or 7:30. I could be there probably as late as 8:15, but that means staying that much later. I can kind of arrive when I want (within reason of course). I've just recently started living alone, so if my alarm clock doesn't ring for some reason, I may be screwed. I'll be concerned about waking up during the changing of the clocks, but to be safe during those times, I better set my cell phone alarm just in case.

I have my main alarm and a backup. If the backup goes off it is the latest possible time to get up and get out the door. That makes me feel rushed all day long, so I try to never rely on it. I did oversleep at my old school. My principal came to my door to make sure I was ok. I had just woken up, I flung the door open, told him I was on my way, slammed it shut, and jumped in the shower. I had taken benadryl the night before and it just wouldn't let me wake up. I've had two alarms since then. If I'm extra tired, I aslo set my cell phone to have a 3rd back up. (I HATE being late.)

I'm like a kid on Christmas eve the night before school starts! I don't think I would ever oversleep on that day. Every other day, maybe.

This is the first year I am really nervous about sleeping in. Just because I have a long commute and if I don't leave on time I will get stuck in traffic and be late. Fortunately the 3 days before school starts and we have in-service training I can use as trial runs to work out all the kinks of getting to the train station on time to catch the train on time and walk the 4 blocks to get there by 7:45.

Nice to know there are lots of people who share my paranoia!! I'm setting my old cell phone's alarm and my alarm clock by my bed. The old phone is way louder than my new phone. I'm putting my new phone in our bathroom, and my dad is calling me before he leaves for work! Hopefully I have enough bases covered that I'll be okay.

I forgot to say that sometimes I also had my daughter wake me up. she would leave to go to the bus stop at 6 am, and that was the latest I had to be up :) But now, in the summer I'm on my own.

I guess I didnt oversleep (maybe 3 times in 33 years). At 4:40am I needed to go the potty, the wife was sawing logs(loudly) and the alarm was set to go in 25 minutes so I got up. It is the first day and have already done 3 miles on the stairb@st@rd eaten breakfast and started the dishwasher.
    Off to an Ipad wkshop.

Even though I set my alarm, I usually am up about 20 minutes before it goes off. Guess it is my age too, Mrs. C!
