I saw a commercial for it and thought that it looked really weird. I won't be running it anytime soon. I hope that there's a better alternative around by the time I'm ready to buy a new system.
I have it. It drives me nuts. I think Windows 8 is (in my opinion) the techies showing off for each other. "See how awesome and slick we are PC guys!"
I'm using it all the time because I have no choice. Will all PCs come with W8 from now on? I figure I better learn how to use it even if I don't like it. The worst part is that every time I slide the cursor fast, that side panel and the date panel come on automatically and I have to double click to remove. Also, I haven't been able to connect my wireless printer to this computer. So, I'm printer-less. Grrrrr.....
Oh great! (being saracstic) This is good to know. But hopefully, by the time I get a new computer, Windows 9 or 10 will be out by then & EASIER TO USE!
My desktop is 5 years old and it barely runs. I know I will need to upgrade soon...been thinking about what I should upgrade to; another PC or MAC. I think this thread will help in my decision.
One of my coworkers and his wife just bought a new laptop. They returned it because they disliked it so much...
For the next computer I get, I wanted to probably get an iMac anyway, so I guess that solves this problem!
I wish I was just plain wrong and everybody would say to just give it time. Sigh. I could become a Mac user.......
OMG Windows 8 SUCKS! I bought my Mom a new computer (her old one was really slow, constantly crashing, etc) and she hates the new one because of Windows 8. It's really hard to use and find stuff. I hate that it doesn't have a start menu like Windows 7 and it's all those stupid icons. I also miss the task bar. Today I wanted to throw it out the window because Mom was trying to print a document and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to print from the read program. I kept pushing different buttons. At one point I got a button that said "print" with a check mark to come up, but when i clicked it, it did NOTHING
So not just me? Hmmm... For that matter, my computer doesn't even have word processing of any sort. I tried to print a PDF of my pay schedule, but the print box never came up.
Windows 8 is very odd. Try youtube for tutorial videos. They can be rather helpful You can downgrade to Windows 7 from 8. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2015107/downgrading-from-windows-8-to-7-what-you-need-to-know.html Google "Windows 8 Downgrade" for more info.
My son just (this afternoon) got a new laptop with Windows 8. Watching his face across the table while he was trying to navigate was priceless! I told me that he needs to figure it out before I need to get a new laptop.
I got a new computer after Christmas. I'm learning how to navigate Windows 8. Not a fan yet. When I type, my cursor either stops or jumps to a totally random, previous spot. That's driving me nuts!
I found out that using a mouse is a lot easier than the fingerpad thing. But, doesn't help when I'm sitting on the couch...... That said, I love my new Asus laptop; it's super-fast.
I found a program that lets me add the old start menu buttons to Windows 8. At least now I have partial use of this great new computer!
I think that my son found the same, swansong. At least he's made it look and operate more like what he's used to.
I use and actually really like windows 8. Clearly I'm in the minority here. I won't say it didn't take me any time to acclimate, but I'm a fan now.
Hmm, I'll have to think of some good ones. I learned that there is a "desktop" tile I can click to take me to the desktop format I'm used to when I want it. If you click on your account picture on the home screen, you can click change account picture (or something like that) and get the options to personalize your theme colors and pictures. The windows key on the keyboard takes you to the home screen.
I still want a start button. Sigh. Yeah, I can navigate around pretty well now. And, yeah, the cursor jumps all over when I hit certain keys. Wish I knew which ones. If you get sent off a page and you put the cursor in the far left top corner of the screen, you can get back to the page you were on.
I did research on the cursor jumping around. It has to do with the touchpad. I went to the control panel & did some adjusting so it's not as sensitive. I need to go back & make the pointer or cursor move slower. I'm also using a mouse pad more often. It has helped.
