I have been the "coach" for many years and still regarded as
a rock star by most of my kids. No better job on earth (except during those HOT Fla days with 80% humidity outside).:dizzy:

I work in two small schools and interact with 3 other schools in
my county. We have one middle school and one HS we feed into.

Dont take anything personal a kid says. Listen to them.
Many just need an adult to listen. Do lots of different things
each year so you can find the one thing that "special" kid
can be good at. You never have to pick up anything again
as the kids are MORE THAN Happy to get the equipment.
    WEAR SUNSCREEN............
Never hesitate to take old games and adapt them to your
situation. I have about 200,000 more but I have to
    do some stuff.

MrGym.com is one. When I get home I can link you more.
As for large group games (with space) soccer is the best
even as low as 2nd grade. Steal the flag is the favorite of my
3-5th grade but you need large groups and cool weather.
They love JRFH events. But when I have time I will post more.

Anyone have any good ideas for a bulletin board with the theme of "Power Up". I hate doing them and that is my least favorite thing to do. I am an elem. teacher K-5 and the kids always look forward to our bullentin boards. Thanks in advance.

Get some old sports magazines (SI, Runners world, Sporting News, Body Builders etc, and cut as many different types of sports shots as you can. Maybe a collage affect. Maybe include some nutritional pictures of healthy foods........all ways to "power up" as your theme implies.

Pulling up an old thread here.

Since we've all been in the middle of a big cold spell, I thought I'd mention a bulletin board I put up last week. I found the slogan "January is snow much fun" in a book. I took that and changed it to "P.E. is snow much fun. I then printed out a clipart basketball, soccer ball, baseball, an orange cone, and two hockey sticks. I used these to make a P.E. snowman with orange cone hat and hockey stick arms. I put it all on a background of blue sky, white rolling snow hills, evergreen trees, snowflakes, etc. There is no real educational message, but it is appropriate for the recent weather. :)

I thought this might be perfect for you folks in Florida right about now. :D

I used MS Word with a clipart package downloaded from Microsoft's website. I can't copy and paste the snowman because it's actually four different clipart pieces that I printed separately and put together on the board. I'll see about borrowing a camera and take a pic of the board.

Looks like I can't attach photos, so I'll have to link it from photobucket when I get home.
