That sounds good to me. To start with could we only do the forum, by requiring that members be invited to join?
Yes that sounds great. We need to keep things on an invite-only basis to start. You'll get an email invitation and then will gain posting privileges. Of course, all of the content will be unavailable to non-members.
OK, I think we have enough interest to get things off the ground here. The Google Group is called "Teaching US History" and has been around for a few years with maybe 5-6 members...however, due to few postings it quickly died out. Looks like we're going to bring back something from the dead! Here are the rules/regulations for the forum: 1) Only members can view group content. 2) This group will not be listed in the Google Groups directory. 3) Members must be invited to join. 4) Members can upload files and post in discussions. 5) Members can invite other people (PLEASE use discretion) How does this sound? If you are interested, please PM me your e-mail address and I will officially send you an invitation through Google to your email. Once you accept, you will be in the group with all the rights/privileges that go with it! Let me know if there's anything else that I didn't cover. Regards, Doug
Brendan: We can, but we'd have to set up a new group and re-invite everybody. Everyone that already PM'd me your email address, you should have received an invite email by now. Be sure to check your spam folder, as sometimes it likes to arrive there.
On the hosting I should have in a day or two, I can install an Internet Relay Chat server, so we can chat on that.
Sure, come aboard! I am confused about the page, as I cannot post, neither can I find an area that's supposed to say "New Post." Is anyone else having this problem?
If you haven't received your invite, be sure to check your spam folder!! Sometimes the invitation will end up there. Regardless, I will re-send invites to those who haven't received them yet. Thanks, Doug
By the way, I just created a new group, "Teaching History," and it is ready to go!! Posting problems are non-existent and everything should be a go!
Just wanted to bump this up again, in case there are any other history teachers out there that still wanted to join!
Just a quick note. If you are thinking about starting waves, don't! Google has announced that they are scrapping the service sometime around the end of the year.
