I don't know about you, but I am ready for a new season of American Idol! The teachers in my building always enjoy each season thoroughly! I am SO ready to see what our nation has to offer this year.

I really only like the auditions. After they pick the top finalists, I'm not interested anymore.

A few auditions stick out in my mind... the Like A Virgin guy, and that Eccentric guy who did the cougar growl. Hilarious!

I sent my DH with a Simon card (it was a free one I got a while back from a halmark sample).... it was a paper doll of simon.

Anyway we like to watch the auditions too.

I love the auditions, too, and the Hollywood round. After that I just watch it if there is nothing else I want to watch on (unless I really have a favorite contestant).

I LOVE the first couple episodes! I lose interest once they start getting to the real talent. It's probably mean, but I love watching the terrible singers who think they're the best thing in the world. I appreciate their confidence, but not their voice... :)

I'll never forget Edgar, Sarah Goldberg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d08ihGmaJDM&feature=related), or the crazy lady that made all those weird sounds.

I can't wait to watch tonight. I often wonder if any of the auditions are set up, now come one, are soooooo bad, are they for real?

I'm a fan, but I always hate the neverending auditions. I just like when the finalists are chosen and the competition begins

I think some auditions are just to get people to watch and are planted but the majority of those people honestly think they can sing. Of course the costumes are only to get noticed.

I'm definitely ready for something besides reruns! Some years I get really addicted to the show and other years, I can't stand to watch it.

I am really excited too! I love the auditions...they are so funny. About the set up auditions... I found a girl on you tube that auditioned but it was all fake. She is an actress/comedian. I was going to put the link up but I guess I cant because I haven't posted enough...the video is called American Idol Waco Act its pretty funny!

Was anyone else creeped out by the stalker song? Ick. I would have cut him off within the first couple of lines of the song.

The stalker was strange. Something must have been up with him, they let him stay on to long. That's why I really think a lot of the singers are a setup.

my fav. so far was the guy with dreadlocks. I'm not good at remembering names.

the ones that whine and bolk when they aren't chosen kind of get on my nerves. Ok, so life goes on.....I was touched when they all escorted that one gal out and was nice to her even though she was on the heavy side. I always woner if people in the town that those people are from ever help out when they see the stories??

the stalker song was way creapy, the chest hair guy was too much, they should not have let him even come back.

I also was touched when they all went out with the football girl. She truly seemed sincere with her singing and trying out and I was glad they didn't tease her or make fun. And kindness for her family. I thought for once the judges acted with compassion-even Simon.

I saw my cousin last night. But she was in the last part of the episode where they showed others who had made it. I was told she sang "something to talk about". At least I know she is going to hollywood. I wonder how far she goes.

Since you all are fans... have you EVER seen a costume person make it?!?! I'm not a frequent watcher but I'll flip it on every now and then and the people in costumes just annoy me, I mean if you're really serious, then get your REAL act together!

I agree. There was one girl (can't remember her name) who was missing one of her oversized hoop earrings as she walked in and introduced herself, but it mysteriously reappeared as soon as she started singing. Then it was gone again right when the song ended!

    Anyone else notice?

My student teacher knows the guy who sang "Go Down Moses" - she said she thinks he is deaf or has some hearing problems in one ear. I feel bad that they laughed at him now...

I was wondering about that, to be honest with you. If that is the case then I feel horrible that he was laughed at! :(

What about the older man (who didn't have a chance anyway due to his age) who wrote his own song about not having sex? What was it called-- "Don't have sex"? I won't ever criticize his beliefs, but I was- admittedly- laughing pretty hard. At least he got what he wanted in that millions of people heard his song... :p

    Looking forward to tonight's episode!

    :D

:mad:I am so annoyed right now! The satelite dish is out and I can't watch it. Life grounds to a halt in Georgia because the weather sometimes hovers around 32 degrees. Snow, partial melt, ice over, partial melt, ice over. And I can't reach the dish to knock the ice off! And it can't load onto the computer yet because it's still going on. Bleech.........

Heaven forbid, I may have to grade some papers or do something constructive.

OK, so can someone explain to me? I love AI (oops, I'm a farm girl-that didn't sound good), I mean American Idol-but do the 3 judges actually listen to ALL of the thousands of people who show up? Or are there some kind of prescreeners? In which case, they are obviously letting the wackos in. If not, how in the world do they find the time. Even if each audition were one minute, if there were 25,000 people, which sounds like a low number from the promos, that would be 416+ hours, or 17 straight days. I'm just curious...

My fiance and I were discussing that also. There's no way they see all those people. I bet they see maybe 100-200 tops.

Your right. There are pre-screeners that listen to all of the people there. They let some bad ones in because it is a TV show and they do it for the ratings.
