... wow. Do these kids serious have nothing better to do during English class? Honestly, this is also a parental issue. Obviously the kids weren't brought up knowing when certain things are and aren't appropriate in public. To me, this is common sense, but some kids just love to push that line. When I got "The Talk" from my parents, this was included, in the sense that "it's perfectly natural, but there is a time and place."
As for the parents demanding therapy... well... I'm sure their little angel isn't as innocent as they think.
Anyway, gross.
When kids are masturbating in class to cell phone porn, it IS a school issue. I can understand how other students feeling victimized by ths, and I don't understand a teacher whose lesson is sitting at a desk reading aloud to students of this age and not being 'with it' enough to realize what was happening..definitely something the school should have addressed if they knew about it.
How does it even get to that point???
I had a student masturbate in class once- in 5th grade! I am across the hall from the guidance counselor and I ran and got her immediately! None of the other kids had any idea. It was disgusting!
I can't imagine letting this happen!
Reminds me of a time when I had a kinder wake up from nap & tell me that "it's growing!" Poor kid had no idea what was going on.
But middle schoolers? Gross. As a teacher how can you not be aware that something is going on?
I would have died on the spot if a kid told me that!
When I caught my student doing it, it was quite obvious. I don't think he exactly knew what he was doing. Or at least what it is called.

Took him to the 1st male I found. . . .
Did the same thing when another child got caught in his, um, zipper.
The story in itself is disgusting but the reporting wasn't high quality either. What was with that interview with the oriental mom? Why was that even relevant to the story?
I hate when news stations report stories like this. Like this story about a Principal in our area.http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/schindlers-list-producer-censored-montana-graduation-speech-334409
The reason the principal did not allow the producer to speak is because the school did not hand out permission slips for a potentially controversial speech. EVERY school has to have permission slips for this and this principal is under the firing squad because the producer made it political.
It also makes it sound like the principal got fired for this incident but in reality had another job before this incident even took place.
I really get the feeling we're not getting the whole story here, and that drives me CRAZY
From the way that video sounded, nothing's going to happen to that teacher, which is outrageous! Actions most certainly should be brought against him! I mean come on now! Maybe we'll hear more about what happens to him soon.
