I consider myself to be "fairly" computer savvy, but could someone please explain the difference between a web page and a blog???

I am about as far as you can get from being the computer guru around here!

But I'll give it a shot. Feel free to correct me.

A blog is a series of articles based on a person's point of view. So, if I were into blogging and had the time, I might blog today about our preparations for vacation, yesterday about the kids making me crazy, and Wedensday about my mom locking herself out of her new apartment.

A website, on the other hand, is normally a bit broader. It CAN consist of blogs, but typically offers more information. Perhaps I would include info on my school, or on the different courses I've taught. I would expect a website to contain more than just opinions, but some concrete info as well.

    How did I do??

Blogs are specific types of websites.

    Pretty good!

A blog has dated entries. Bloggers usually update daily or weekly. They can be opinion based or daily tips, funny anecdotes etc. If you want to share the latest happenings in your class, you might try a blog.

A web site is more stable. The content stays the same (although it could be updated with the latest HW, spelling words, announcements etc). If you have a lot of information that you want students to always have access to, use a website.

Thanks! That's kind of what I've been thinking, but just didn't know for sure!

"Blog" is short for Web Log [WebLog = bLog...] so if you think of it as an online journal, that might help.

A blog is a type of website. A website might have a blog built into it.

    Chele :)

    My only addition ...

updates to a blog appear at the top of the page, most recent information on top.

Almost any blog builder can create a website.
A website builder usually has a template for a blog.

Web Page - a website, like this

Blog = Think of it like a journal. It is part of a website. Sometimes it may be the main feature (Such as the Foodwishes cooking website), but most of the time, it is a side thing, sometimes may be used as a thing where the administrator posts updates to the site
