AI is on at 8:00 EST--that's 7 minutes from now. How do you think they will handle the top 13? Will they vote two off tomorrow so they are caught up?

Michael Jackson Theme!!!! WOW! This will be interesting tonight! And they are voting two off tomorrow.

I heard that they had to come up with another phone number for the thirteenth contestant because, had they gone with their usual order, viewers would end up calling some sex hotline. :p

Two left to sing. I do not have a favorite yet. There are several that I like. I might have to think about who I definitely didn't like and go from there, but that might even be hard tonight.

    What does everybody else think?

There is some talent, but I don't really have a favorite. Maybe Danny Gokey. Lil is very good - but seems too old. I don't like any of the other girls.

Lil is good, but does seem old--I couldn't put my finger on what buggged me, but that's it. The girls have some ok singers, but do not seem as strong as the guys. I think Danny is going to have stronger competition than I first thought.

UPDATE: Lil is 23 and Danny is 28! I thought it might be the other way around!

I think the talent is great this year! How 'bout that scoring change they are going to announce tomorrow? You think it will be like DWTS where the judges are worth 50% and the call ins worth 50%?

Danny, Alex, Lil in that order (for tonight). Generally speaking Danny is my top on all nights (so far). The last girl (Alexis) was pretty good too. I actually think she did better than Lil tonight but I'm not rooting for her as much. I'm not sure why.

This is the second time I saw DWTS. What does that mean? It's on in 10 minutes where I live. I guess I watch it. :)

Adam was HOT tonight! Lil did well & Simon :eek:was his same old self with the cut downs about Lil's outfit and about some other singers. Danny & Alexis did pretty good too.

I thought Adam and Danny were the best two by far tonight.

Seriously, could Alexis' skirt have gotten ANY shorter? My goodness, and to think she's a mom!

I was hoping Anoop would do better than he did.

I hope the judges do not get to weigh in on who stays and who goes. I don't mind hearing their comments, but other than that--they already played their part in choosing the top 36.

I like Danny, and I like Jorge's voice--his personality bugs me sometimes. He needs to tone down a little, but his voice is very good. Anoop didn't do so well. The jury is still out on the girls--I guess they are about even for me, right now.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I didn't like Adam. He was ok at the beginning & then it feels like he is "screaming."

I liked Lil, Danny & Matt....

I felt bad for Anoop - he got his hopes up after being called back. But, really, the song choice was awful.

Yeah, Lil is definitely old-school in looks and performance. Very talented, though. She just doesn't seem American Idol to me.

I didn't like Alexis last night. What does everybody think about Michael, the oil rigger guy?

I like Michael but I don't think he'll last long. I think Simon has made it clear that he wants a rock star type to win. Maybe Simon will get outvoted?

Do you like the new rule? I think it will be OK. and I think the judges will be very careful how they use it. I think they already know who they will use it on and will just save it just in case those one or two people get eliminated.

I felt bad for Jorge. I kind of thought Anoop would go. He is good, maybe he will do better next week, but I just think Jorge really has the better voice out of the two. Oh well. I didn't call and vote!

On to next week!! Did they say what the theme for next week is?

The mansion they are staying in is pretty nice. I think I could handle that for awhile.

I like the new rule a lot. I agree, I bet they already know the two or three people they would use it on. I think it's a great idea, because there are instances where someone goes home before they should (ex: Daughtry).

The rule does, however, entail some stipulations: the Save may be invoked only once until the top 5; the decision must be unanimous among the judges; and the week the Save is used, nobody goes home, but two are sent packing the next week. Citing previous contestants Michael Johns, Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry, Simon Cowell explained that Judges Save is intended to ensure the strongest remain in the competition.

This new rule doesn't even pertain to the 3 they sited because they were in the top 3-4...If I understand it right they can only use the save until top 5!!!

I was not surprised Jasmine went.... but not sure who the other would be.

Good point. You are right that the save is only for "less than the top 5". That wouldn't have helped Daughtry or Hudson. Hmmm, I hadn't thought of that.

I think they probably confused a lot of people when they said that. I know I said to hubby... that's silly all of those mentioned were in like the top 3 or 4!!! I did look it up to confirm that though!!!

I wonder if they'll clarify next week!!!

I think they did this because of the whole Senja (sp?) thing!!!

Michael Johns wasn't in the top 5...wasn't he like 6 or 7? Tamyra Gray was 4th or 5th I thought...

Hudson wasnt in the top 5 either ..but I agree most of the examples werent really accurate. I think it will be an interesting twist if they acctually use it.

I liked Jorge..Anoop or that blonde could have gone IMO

I think the point of the save is so that something fluky doesn't happen. I thought they showed those certain people not so much for when they got eliminated, but that they got eliminated at all. Those were people that a lot of fans thought could win it all.

By the time they get to the top 5, it's anyone's to win, as far as I'm concerned. Top 5 is a good career starter anyway (Daughtry, Bo Bice, Clay Aiken...)

This way AI doesn't get all your money either if you get a record deal. I was astounded to hear how much Carrie made & then how much she actually got after AI's contract...sad really!!!

I heard that a regular record deal paid more than AI's deal. Is that accurate?

I think they pay probably equal, but the artist get more than an AI deal. Does that make sense? The "people" at AI take home a hefty amout... I'm thinking something like 60-70%...don't put that in stone, but I was shocked!!! I just read they have to sign a 3 year deal....

So they are probably better off not winning & getting their own deals!!!

That's the whole reason for the show - so the AI people can sign someone and make money off of them. The winner is contractually obligated to AI for a certain period of time.
