Mods...please feel free to move this if its in the wrong place.

For those of you who have been as glued to their TV's on Sunday nights as I have been, I thought I'd pass this along. The History Channel is selling the complete series for a really good price: Only 40 bucks, and free shipping...definitely affordable for a teacher wanting to add to their classroom video library. I just ordered my set :)

My husband and I love this series. We don't want the show to end. It is so informative and visually stunning; a unique and modern approach to retelling our past...

Heavens, I rarely get into television programs, but this one is so fantastic that I've been rivited for the whole series.

Bandnerd, that's a great give-away! I don't work in a school anymore, and even if I did, I'd still want to own the series for myself. It's just that good. :)

This series is based on the book series of the same title by Joy Hakim, yes?

I'm not sure, TG. I think one of the best parts of the TV series is the visuals. They really made the stories come to life in a way that I haven't seen before. Even my kids loved it, and that's a real acomplishment for a "boring school show", as they said before they watched it.

The books are pretty good - among the resources I suggest for people who are sure they hate history, though the entire series runs to ten or twelve volumes and is pretty pricey.

I'll put them on my list. Usually books are better than movie/television, and if that's the case with this set, then they must be spectacular.

I haven't watched it, MM. Would it be worth buying for a HS history teacher?

Brenden...absolutely. It's a 12 episode series covering colonial times to 9-11. Its well written and filmmed beautifully. The history channel will probably air reruns in the next few weeks, so keep your eye out and judge for yourself.

I wouldn't go as far as "spectacular" - but for a kids' resource, the books are quite good.

This is great, thanks for the link! I was actually planning on buying the series as well, for my personal use, but I think it's awesome they are giving it to every school! I just registered.
