:2cents:We had to have our Master Planners in by Thanksgiving and 6 pieces of evidence per student BEFORE Christmas! It just messes with the holiday spirit and LOOMS over one's head. I hear they are here to stay!! OH MY!!!!

Here too in AR. Such a waste of time. I was hoping our currect edu. person in Washing would take on this issue but no one really understands unless you are in the classroom.

I was hoping we could start of thread of ideas and activities to
hit some of these strands. Maybe for next year.

What assessment do you need to do a portfolio for?

I am taking the night off from thinking about them...the weekend will be full of AA! I am going to be in AA after I get through these...is that getting old now? I am going to try to come up with a bank of ideas for each of the four academic areas. There has got to be a way to streamline this process...it was over our heads on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and now MLK weekend. AArrrghhhh! I hear they are hear to stay! :(

Great!! It's so very hard to come up with activities that are for our lowest functioning kids. I find science and reading the easiest - math is tough.
Ours have to be completed by the beginning of March.
I'm done except for writing a profile.

If anyone needs an idea maybe I can help ;)

I don't do portfolios. The kids all take the same standardized test. The test itself doesn't take a long time but it hasn't to be done one on one so that's a bit of a pain. I start mine next week and hope to be done by the end of the week.

What are you required to do alternate assessments for? For our lowest functioning kiddos I write this AA in to their IEP but really, this just means that instead of taking the standardized tests the district does, EXPLORE, PLAN, ACT, I'm forgetting a few, I can do some informal assessments with mk kids. For State standardized testing, in Illinois our kids take ISAT for 3-8 and PSAE for 11. We do the IAA for our sp ed kids that can't do this and it's actually really simple. Takes a bit of time, but not like portfolios.

I have about 10 low kids and I don't have to do any alternate assessments, that's why I was curious. I have to complete a checklist for my 3rd graders but that's it. I was wondering if I was missing something… Good luck with your assessments.
