How many of you display an alphabet line? In manuscript? in cursive? or both?

In the past I have done both. Students at our school are taught cursive in second, review it and third and fourth.

I'm not sure if I want to hang one or not?

I have one in cursive. After Christmas, I make them write everything in cursive. They look at it all the time to make sure they are forming letters correctly.

I have one in cursive that shows different locations around the world for each letter. I only do certain assignments in cursive after Christmas; in fifth grade they will write in both, too, depending on the assignment. However, some students wrote in cursive all the time, no matter what.

hmmm i think i may get a cursive alphabet for my room. They are not required, but i think it'll be good for the kids to see cursive writing.

In the past, I have had a cursive strip, but with the placement of my Promethean board, it's awfully hard to put it up and take it down around it, which we have to do for state testing. (Go figure, if they don't know the alphabet in fourth grade, there is something seriously wrong!) This year I will have the mini-strips on their desks.

We are required to have one in cursive in fourth.

I only require cursive occasionally, but I do make sure they can READ cursive!

We have the whole alphabet up along with the vowel sounds and such, it goes along with our Open Court reading program. I think our 5th grade Reading teacher has it up too...
