Hey, everyone! I'm hardly ever on here anymore, but with being done with grad classes for a few weeks and having a 3 day weekend, I had some free time and figured I'd pop on over here and share some good news. My hubby and I have been actively house hunting since about January (some of you may remember that) and after having offers on two houses rejected, we finally had an offer accepted about a month ago! Things have been going pretty well with the process and we're set to close June 5th.

I made a website with the details of the process and some photos to keep our out of town family informed, so I figured I'd share it over here for those of you who actually remember me. ;)

Looks like a cute place! That sure is a lot of land. I wouldn't want to be the one to mow it .

    Thanks! :)

I'm already starting to think about where I want to put a garden and how we'll do all of the landscaping. We probably won't be doing much outside this summer other than just cutting the lawn because there's SO much to be done inside the house. However, next year I'll probably spend the entire summer in the yard!

Wow that house looks much bigger than 1100 square feet. I love how you have that deck on the second floor.

Congratulations! You will have fun this summer playing house and decorating:)

The 1100 square feet is only the second level. The lower level (basement) is unfinished and not counted in the living space. If we do decide to finish it down the road, though, it'll add around 700-800 sq.ft. of living space to the house.

    Beth,
Right at this very moment I"m "enjoying" one of the many perks of home ownership. 9am on a Sunday morning, on a holiday weekend, and a group of plumbers are digging up my side yard trying to get to the clogged sewer line that has raw sewage backed-up into my shower and and sinks.

I hope you don't get to experience this "joy" for many, many years to come -- if ever!

What is really sad...exactly this weekend one year ago today, we were doing the exact same thing! (Except they replaced that part of the drain line.) It just doesn't seem possible that it has happened again.

My point is this -- start asking NOW -- ask your friends, your family, your realtor -- for the names of a reliable plumber, heating and cooling company, handyman, etc. You don't want to wait until a holiday weekend and have to take some fly-by-night company.

Rain Storm---We've got most of that stuff covered. A good friend of ours in a licensed electrician, another has his contractor's license, my dad works for the gas company, my dad's girlfriend works for the electric company, and my husband does plumbing and fire protection design, so he's got connections with tons of plumbing companies.

We're in pretty good shape. :)

    Thanks, everyone! :)
We're super excited and are just keeping our fingers crossed that we'll still be able to close on June 5th. It's going to take us a while to get the cleaning and painting done, so the sooner we can get started, the better!
