Hey guys, I went to an interview today with the principal for a 3d animation teaching job. After I sent him a thank you letter and also a copy of my unofficial score report(subject area exam), he emailed me back saying that he sent the report to the Personal Specialist for a review, and that he will have to advertise the vacancy within 2 weeks, so he can hire me the following week. I was happy with the email until I saw "I'm excited about the possibility of having you in our team". That "possibility" to me meant that he will be looking for other options. What do you guys think?

Sounds like he technically had to say that :thumb:

You could also look at it as he might not be confident you'll take the job and therefore it's only a possibility. Best of luck!

Or it's pending the review. Relax.

I agree, it sounds like good news! It seems that he is waiting for the review (board approval) and that you want the job.

You guys are right, I think he wasn't so sure that I want the job because he found I was going to another interview in another school 35 minutes away from his school :D

In our district, they aren't allowed to hire until the position has been advertised, so I think he was hedging his bets.

Hey guys, the principal sent me an email saying that the vacancy will be open next week and that in another 2 weeks, he will complete the interview and finalize things. I didn't know that there are 2 interviews to become a teacher. What should I expect in the second interview with him? I felt he already asked me everything in the 1st interview, why I want to teach, what inspired me to do art, my experience.....

Congrats on a second interview. You might find that you are meeting with more than just the principal this time.

2 rounds is not a lot...at least 4 in NY. There will probably be a panel this time...probably a lapse of questions but different ears this time.

It all depends on the disrtict. Sometimes the second interview is with a school or district level administrator where you basically sign the contract and are welcomed to the district, sometimes its an actual interview with more people or different people. You should be prepared for anything, but don't freak out. If you got a second interview that means the principal likes you!

Like others have said, you'll probably be meeting with other teachers or administrators during the 2nd interview. This happened to me both times I had to interview at a school.

    GOOD LUCK! :)

My most recent interview was three rounds.

My best friend was just offered a job in a 5 round process.

    2 is pretty normal :)

My second interview with the principal was mostly going over the same questions but in more depth. He asked me more specifics to the grade level and just wanted to get a better feel about how I'd fit in with the school.

    Congrats on the second interview!
