Today was my first day volunteering at a local after school program. For one of my classes we have to spend at least 20 hours there. Well, it turns out they had too many kids sign up so they hired me! Only for one afternoon a week, but I have to be there anyway so I might as well get paid!
I'm excited, but I am a little nervous. My group is going to work on sewing projects. I used to sew a lot when I was younger, but the last few years life has been way too hectic. Oh well, I'll get out some fabric and practice, and these are elementary kids so we aren't going to do anything too fancy.

How young are your kiddos? If you can incorporate knitting, you could use the Knifty Knitter. I've seen plenty of 5-8 year olds use it and do really nice work with it!

    That's wonderful.... congratulations!!!

Can the hours still count towards your class if you're getting paid?

I need 20-24 hours, and I'll only be paid for 5 or 6. So it shouldn't be an issue. I'll still go my three afternoons each week, but I'll only have my own group one of those days.
