And I couldn't be more excited! I started my ACP in the summer of 2010 and have been pounding the pavement ever since in hopes of landing a position and it looks like all of my hard work and determination have finally paid off! I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I decided to become a teacher. Like many, I had always believed that teachers were in high demand. Boy what a wake-up call that was when I started looking for jobs! I started my journey as a sub, did that for two years, and it wasn't until last school year that I finally landed a LTS job as a para in Special Ed. That opportunity gave me such great experience to put on my resume, stellar references and prompted me to get my SPED Certification. I'm telling you, having that SPED certification opened SO many doors for me. Whereas I had maybe 3 interviews total over the last two years, I had 10 in a two-week period which resulted in four job offers. Three were with charter schools and one with a traditional ISD. I guess this was my year and I am so psyched to begin the new school year! I'm going to be the Special Ed Resource teacher at a K-5 campus in ELAR.
