Hey all! I joined the boards here two years ago to help with studying for the CSET and now start my student teaching on monday! I'm nervous and excited, obviously :)

I would love any advice and also have one question:

I'm starting my student teaching half-way through the year, so the students are already accustomed to a certain way of discipline and certain procedures. Do I introduce my own, or adapt my classroom management style around those that I am teaching in? Let me know!

My student teacher started the day we returned from winter break. She has been observing me and slowly taking over more and more of the classroom responsibilities. I expect that she will maintain the rules and procedures our class enacted at the beginning of the year.

Use the already established rules as a base but you can always add more rules/variations/be more specific.

I did my student teaching the second half of the year also. I would say to watch your master/coordinating teacher and she how she/he typically does things. Talk to him/her about what things they want you to be sure to enforce and what things you're allowed to use your own style for.
