Hi All, I was just wondering if any of you use one of these. I am getting one in the fall, and I am nervous about it. We start school in five weeks, and it is not yet installed. I am taking the online class, but I don't feel like I will know how to use it until I actually do. Thanks! K
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my ACTIVboard. I use it all day. I rarely even write on the white board any more. They seem intimidating, but they are quite user friendly. I'm still amazed at all it can do. I have the brand new version and the older version loaded on my computer. I prefer the older version because it's easier to navigate. You should try prometheanplanet.com they may be able to help you with some of your questions. Once you get the software installed on your computer I will be glad to send you some flipcharts.
shasha-Thank you for your response. I just don't want to look like an idiot on back to school night. We have ours just a few days after school starts. These boards are so expensive, and I want to make sure that we are getting the most bang for our buck. The PTO purchased them for all 3rd,4th and 5th grade classrooms, and they are going to want to know that they are being used. Thanks for the tip about prometheanplanet, I will go take a look. K
Glad to help. Our 3-5 grade teachers all got one too. We were all like you at first, but now we would not know how to teach without it.
I absolutely love my Activeboard. Use it all the time. PrometheanPlanet is a great site for flipcharts and such. Also, try nettrekker, if you can. Just adjust the search for a topic to include flipcharts and if there are any, it'll show those.
LOVE IT!!!!!! Once you learn the program you will love it too. Also, will you get an activeslate? It comes with the active board. It is a pad that has bluetooth and you walk around the room writing on the pad. Whatever you write on the pad appears on the board.
runnerss, I just finished the online training, and I am hoping that we get some sort of inservice. I was in my classroom today, and they have not installed it yet. The boards have arrived, they are just waiting for installation. I hope they install them soon, so I can learn how to use it before school starts. I am not sure if we are getting the activeslates or not. They were not a part of the pilot, so I am guessing that they are not coming. Can't wait to use it!
Yeah I am nervous about it too. I am moving to a school where they have them. I have no clue how to use it and no training opportunity.
I absolutely adore my ActivBoard! I use it for absolutely everything! Be sure to check out Promethean's website as it has a ton of support including videos to show you how to use things.
