As they say, that escalated quickly...we've been on the market barely two weeks. The offer was lower than our listing price, which we anticipated, but we decided to take it rather than gambling on getting a few thousand more. We're going to rent for a while, so we don't have the complication of another purchase.

I have to say, I have very mixed feelings! We've lived here for 25 years and raised our family here. Even though I know it's a very good move for us, I cried all through signing the documents with our realtor.

We lived in our house for 25 years before having to move out of town. Our kids hated moving.

I think you are smart to rent for a while. That way, you don't have to make any fast decisions.

It's the first time I've mentioned it. We have watched the prices tick up, especially in our neighborhood, and decided it was time to take our equity out. I'm planning on retiring in about 5 years, and it's likely we'll move closer to our daughter (who isn't married yet, but I think that's coming!) If grandchildren enter the picture, I'm going to need to be nearby! By not buying again here, we'll be able to put our money into some property up there.
