I will be approaching the principal tomorrow about this position. This is my second year being a para and have previous teaching experience (before my son was born). I had a chat with the AP about a month ago. She advised me to continue job searching throughout the year and that she was sure that my P would give me a recommendation.

My concern is that I have heard numerous times "we'd be lost without you". I am confident that I am good at my job, however, I'm afraid that they will not want to replace me with another para.

The transfer deadline is Nov 22. I'm hoping nobody within the district would want to leave an already established classroom. Wish me luck!

Good luck! I would think since they see you as an asset as a para, that they believe you would be an even bigger asset in the classroom as a teacher.

I had an interview this morning.

Even though I knew everyone on the panel, it was still quite nerve wracking! LOL I can't even begin to remember what most of the questions were. The two interviewees previous to me were recent college graduates. I am hoping that my experience wins out.

The principal hopes to make a decision at the beginning of next week. Waiting over Thanksgiving break is going to be pure torture.

Good luck! In all honesty it is harder to interview with a committee you know everyone. I have done that four times now!

I hope you get it, too. If you've worked as a para for 2 yrs. you need to get back into the classroom as what you really are--a very competent professional! Best wishes.
