Now THIS sounds like California. Maybe I should start my own thread about CA. lol. But it sounds like some things about our states are similar. Sounds like the major differences are that CA very willingly goes into debt and has a budget deficit - LOVES to do that, in fact - and that we do have a union. Ironically, though, I teach at a charter, and therefore am not part of the union, and I'm treated better and have better working conditions than many public school teachers - class caps, specials, aide time, prep time, no extra duties. BUT also a step/column/pay freeze. I really do feel for NC teachers though. Hopefully this situation is not permanent....
