Our Sunshine Committee is working on a project for Teacher Appreciation Week. We are asking kids from each class to give reasons why their teacher is a good teacher and then we are making little plaques with the quotes.

The older students say things like "she inspires me to read more" and "he made me understand decimals". The Pre-K kids--"she wears pretty jewelry and pretty shoes and pretty clothes".

I think if we ever move to student evaluations, I'm going to have to dress better! :lol:
 
Love it! Our district is moving to a new teacher evaluation system next year, with 30% of the eval being from student evaluations. Grades 3-5 will fill out a survey and Pre-k-2 will be given a verbal survey. I hate to see what my preschoolers say, especially since last week I had a little one who said she hated coming to school and that I was mean, and when I asked why, she said "because you make us share...". Oh my.....:$
 
Adorable! I love little kinders and preschoolers...we have a set of twins at our school in kinder who were asking their kinder teacher why she wore such "fugly" shoes!

Oh I know! They are considering it in our district as well. I'm praying that they decide not to-I just don't think these young kids understand. I had a K student tell me once that I was mean to her all year and when I asked why she thought that she said "you always sent notes home to my mom when I got in trouble". In her mind, that was completely my fault-certainly based on her actions.
 
That is so cute; all schools should give their students the opportunity like this to give reasons that why they feel that their teacher is good.
