I joined edhelper this year. It's not great, but I do love the word walls and vocabulary ideas for novel units. They are beginning to add more middle school literature units. I'm not sure if they offer a trial ... but they probably do. I just downloaded 'plenty' of ideas for The Westing Game.

Congratulations on the new job. I also teach 7th Language Arts in south Texas. My favorite website is http://readwritethink.org/
I love this site! I use it a lot with most lessons, or units that I am teaching. Good Luck!

    Hi Jenn,

I teach 8th grade social studies and I'm always looking for new ways to improve reading comprehension. I post many of them on my blog. You'll have to look through old blog posts and archives but you will likely find many tips for teaching reading to middle school students: http://www.teaching-tips-machine.com/blog

    Hope that helps...
