Hi Kelly and welcome! One question--do you have 45 minutes of Health every day? What topics are covered? (just my curiosity). Only one hour per day of Reading/Language Arts doesn't seem like very much--we are required to have a minimum of 100 minutes/day. Will you be using Social Studies/Health/Science time to cover some of your Reading cross-curricularly?

I have to agree with MrsC. You might want to check to see how many minutes per day are required for Reading/Language Arts. (I must have been writing this as you were answering, sorry.) Remember that you will need to include spelling, vocab and writing into that block, as well as reading. My schedule includes an hour for science/social studies and health. I don't have each of them every day. I usually teach a week or 2 of science then a week or 2 of social studies (or however the long the particular unit lasts). I include health when I can. I also incorporate science and ss into my guided reading for additional support.

Wow! Only required to have an hour for Reading? My reading block is 180min. We are only required to have 30hrs of health per year, so we only have health on Fridays. Social Studies M/W for only 45min. Science T/R (45min).

Kelly, please don't take offense to advice when it is given. We were replying to your original post in which you stated that you are a grade 5 teacher and were looking for feedback on your schedule. Setting up your schedule is very difficult and we all work through many versions before it is final. I'm sorry that you took advice as criticisms.
