Hello everyone! I'm a first year teacher starting in 5th grade. Does anyone have any suggestions for novels, magazines, etc. that I should include in my classroom library? Thanks!

I really like the books by Andrew Clements (such as Frindle) and the Fudge books by Judy Blume (such as Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing, Double Fudge). They are high interest books that always seem to be checked out from my class library.

Thanks for the reply - I'll definitely have those books stocked! I just realized that there is a post titled "5th grade library" that asked the same question...ooops. Thanks again :)

There are many threads on this topic, especially now. They have lots of suggestions. In addition to the one about the library, there is also a thread about read alouds.

I really love having the magazines Time For Kids and National Geographic for my students. A lot of them struggle with non-fiction text, but really enjoy reading and learning through the magazines.
