I'd like some ideas; gotta be simple though. I'm thinking of having: hot dogs on grill & all the fixings wings pasta salad Watermelon cupcakes and ???
I never have anything specific on any certain holiday...whatever I feel like having! But ribs would be nice for once. I could probably count on one hand the # of times I've had them in my life. I'll probably order them from some restaurant.
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Sorry - "defiled eggs" made me laugh out loud hysterically. We are having a low country boil (potatoes, onions, shrimp, sausage, corn, clams) with lots of butter and cocktail sauce, and I made hummus with some veggies and pita, and we are making http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/White-Chocolate-Fruit-Tart this fruit tart with a more patriotic selection of fruit. We have some beer and soda and will have others bringing other food but I am not sure what.
We are having our party on Saturday, but we are doing brats in beer, potato salad, baked beans, 7 layer salad, chips/dips, and desserts.
Just two of us this year... we're doing: Guacamole and chips Bacon cheeseburgers Corn-on-the-cob Berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream
Oh, gosh, that's tomorrow isn't it. We're having.... food of some sort. Happy to read all the great ideas.
I'm going to two parties. Bringing this to the first: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/str...0400000121698/?iid=news-di-062312&PromKey=XET And wine to the second. Happy 4th y'all.
Asked hubby to make blueberry pancakes (fresh blueberries) Burgers on the grill Maybe some corn Something cool for dessert... maybe ice cream!!!
Not doing much. Just the 2 of us for dinner when hubby gets home from work. We will be bbqing these burgers and I will make a pasta salad and chili lime corn. We have a ton of watermelon and going to someone's house for dessert.
We're having an impromptu barbecue. Last I heard it was the 5 of us, 7 definites from neighbors, and "not sure" from the family of 5 next door. (The brand new mom and the newborn are obvious "nos." I imagine the dad and the 2 preschool aged daughters will stop by.) We're having: Burgers and hot dogs on the grill marinated chicken breast, also on the grill corn on the cob baked beans potato salad coleslaw brownies beer/soda/ sangria My friend is bringing sausage pinwheels and ice cream. Not sure who else is bringing what. We'll hang out, chat, and swim. Sounds like heaven.
We'll have 12 at our place today. We're having: BBQ hamburgers Potato salad Fruit salad Three bean salad (my recipe - not from a jar) Chips and salsa with cream cheese Red pepper jelly over cream cheese with crackers Homemade vanilla and mint ice creams It is also my father's birthday, so that adds to the festivities.
1 can (14 oz) garbonza beans 1 can (14 oz) kidney beans 1 can (14 oz) green beans - yellow beans are good also 1/2 sweet onion, finely chopped 1/2 tsp garlic powder, or 2 cloves minced garlic 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 c sugar 1 c apple cider vinegar - has to be apple cider vinegar 1/2 c olive oil, or vegetable oil Optional - 1/4 c red bell pepper, finely chopped Mix the sugar and onions in a bowl for about an hour to allow the onions to release some of their liquid (this makes the salad yummier). Then add the beans, garlic, salt, pepper, bell peppers if wanted, and vinegar. If you're going to serve the salad the same day you make it, I like to let the salad set at room temperature for a few hours before adding the oil and then letting is set for a few more hours before serving. This salad is best if it is made a day before and kept in the refrigerator, then taken out an hour before serving. Enjoy - it is super simple and very tasty.
Leftover pizza here! We just moved and are spending the day trying to unpack. The house is a disaster and we're taking advantage of the day off.
I'm getting ready to leave, and I ate already. I don't like any of the traditional picnic fare. They're having hamburgers and hot dogs. I don't eat either. I also hate deviled eggs, baked beans, most cole slaw, and watermelon.
I read "defiled eggs" and thought to myself, "What the heck is that?" I even googled it! Then I realized, "Oooooh--she must've meant deviled eggs!"
