My area of the classroom. This is my teacher desk. The round/horseshoe table both have a dog bowl filled with supplies for students to use. I initially wanted dog bowls for supplies when I group desks, but ended up going with plastic containers with 3 dividers. I may pick dog bowls up throughout the year and do it next year since they can be quite expensive, especially since I want cute ones. The view of my room from the adjoining door. Small group area and class library. Daily 5 anchor charts. I don't have a lot of room to do larger anchor charts, but they're available for students to reference throughout the year. I only have them all posted right now because we have Meet the Teacher Night coming up and I want parents to be able to view what each of them mean. I will remove them afterwards and add them to the wall as I teach each choice. Each student will have a dog silhouette (they're in the baggie in the upper right hand corner) from my Cricut that they'll move to show what activity they have chosen. These are the dog silhouettes ... a poodle, a dalmatian, and a terrier. My CAFE board to display skills that have been taught and should be utilized when reading. To go with my dog theme, I had to display Boo, the cutest dog in the whole world! Well, besides my own, which you can see in the photo of my desk. Just another view of this work area. The view from the back of my classroom. I have students placed in a horseshoe temporarily. I currently have 19 boys and 9 girls, so I need to get a sense of the dynamics of my classroom before I venture into groups. I will eventually, but I'm not sure at what point. Another view of the room. I have a table in the front that I use to hold materials I need while teaching and it alleviates a lot of clutter that I might have on my desk, which would drive me crazy! Another view. You can see my behavior clip chart and information about the writing process is posted on the cabinet doors. All cubbies hold student textbooks to allow for more room inside of their desks. The colorful caddies on top of the wooden furniture is for when I place students in groups. Each one holds post-its, dictionaries/thesaurus, erasers, various pens, glue sticks, scissors, etc. Daily 3 math board. I will post various activities that they can complete for each underneath the charts. Each student will have another dog silhouette that they will glue to a clothespin to move between the activities. This is my "brag tags" board, which I renamed Dog Tags. Students will earn badges to display on their necklace. I don't like the term "brag tags" so I'm going to refer to them as badges. If you're interested in learning more, search the term "brag tags". A closer look at how students will display their "brag tags" collection. This is my first batch of "brag tags". Students earn them for various reasons and display them on their necklace, which they will wear to assemblies and whatnot. Then they'll take them home on the last day of school. The front of my classroom. The left side will be where I post objectives and the right side is where I'll post reminders, information to write in their agendas, homework, etc.
Great room! Last year I had 19 boys and 8 girls--- it's definitely a dynamic that takes getting used to!
Wow! Your room looks great! So organized and visually appealing. Very cute!! I especially love the dog tag idea!
Your room looks fabulous! I am just in awe at the organization. It would take me years to do something like that. Great job!
Very organized and clean! You have given me some great tips on how best to display my Daily 5 area. I really like that your grading scale shows students what the grades mean. Smart!
Thanks everyone! Pinterest! Right now there are 28 desks, but can easily be adapted for more/less students.
Very nice. Love your theme, it's subtle, not overdone and super cute! I hope you have a great year in there. (And that you're class is somehow evened out- 19 boys- whoa!)
Thanks. I'll have 25 and really like your arrangement and how you made it work in a smallish space like my room.
Fingers crossed that things even out numbers wise! Nope, just little ol' me. 28 is actually a decent size compared to what I've had in the past. I'll be curious to see how many actually show up because there always seems to be a few that don't.
