... your planned schedules, particularly if you do writer's workshop, self-selected reading, literature circles, and the like. I know you won't know your actual schedules by period, or specials or anything, that's fine. I just would like an idea of how your mornings and afternoons will go - when and how much time will you plan for all the literacy, as well as math and social studies.
    Thanks a bunch.

Our schedule varies from day to day due to specials and such. However, most days we have language arts in the morning. I set aside an hour and a half a day for language arts. In that time we can do a variety of activities; writer's workshop, literature circles, etc... There have been times when I have set aside two days a week for writer's workshop, and the other three days for literature circles where we use the whole time for those activities. We normally have our specials in the morning and then we have Social Studies or Science (depending on the day) before lunch. After lunch we normally have Math, Social Studies or Science (depending on the day) and Religion ( I teach in a Catholic school.) I hope this helps a little bit!

So far, my schedule looks like this:

    8:00-8:15 Prime Time
    8:15-8:30 Spelling
8:30-9:00 Reading - whole group instruction
    9:00-9:10 Bathroom Break w/snack
    9:10-9:45 Reading - small groups w/centers
    9:45-10:15 Grammar
    10:15-10:30 Community Circle Time
    10:30-11:30 Science/Social Studies (I'm team teaching w/ another teacher)
    11:30-12:15 Start Math instruction
    12:15-12:30 Wash up for lunch
    12:30-1:00 Lunch/Recess
    1:00-1:15 Read Aloud
    1:15-1:45 Finish Math
    1:45 Pack UP
    2:00 Specials

I still have some tweaking to do, but that's pretty much it in a nutshell. Writing will be somewhere in reading or grammar. Haven't gotten that straightened out yet! So much to do, so little time!

Thank you both. That helps. Anyone else have a general plan for timing of literacy lessons?
