3 and a half.... plus a teacher work day and 8 half days of summer school. But still. 3 and a half with my class.
Aaaah, you guys are killing me! 24 days left here. (I love my current group and will really miss them but I'm also getting to the point where I'm running on fumes.)
I'm not far ahead of you! Kids have a half day on the 29th; we have meetings on the afternoon of the 29th and the morning of the 30th. Then, we are free to go as soon as everything is done!
9 days... one is a half day and one is an all day swim day... almost out of gas... must...press...on...
3.5 days. Just finished report cards! Classroom is cleaned and packed up. Counting down by hours now.
A day and a half left with kids. Grades are in, I'm gonna give a bunch of worksheets today and get some cleaning done since it's actually keeping me awake at this point. Sadly we are also done with specials so there is almost no time during the day that I'm NOT with my class.
We have 12 days left. Open House is this week (seems to be a CA phenomenon - basically a big showcase of student work at the end of the year), and after that things will rush to the end quickly. I still haven't started packing up my room because I'm not returning next year. I always forget how crazy the end of the year is!
18 days left! Ugh. I told the kid who's been a complete jerkwad all year to "shut it or leave the classroom", so my professional veneer is slipping just a little bit, but to be fair he was being quite a little a**hole today. Normally I'd feel bad, but he deserved it so much, and other kids even gave me fist bumps because he was disrupting their learning so much and being so disrespectful. I'm honestly just sick of dealing with him, and I don't give a crap if admin gets mad at me. I also plan on avoiding contact with his parents if possible. I'm going to be so glad when this year is over.
I'm done too! I walked out 20 minutes after the kids, which is pretty much a record for me. I've had a tough year, so I'm ready to relax and recharge!
I'm done with the regular school year - I have an 8 day summer camp that starts next Tuesday, but it'll be super easy compared to the rest of the year!! HAPPY SUMMER!!!!
So, my computer screwed up while I was singing my happy song and posted my message several times. Oops. Sorry team.
End of year party...check Clean classroom...check Give away all junk to kids as prizes...check Send kids home for summer...check Enjoy lunch with the staff...check Turn in keys...check Hop in car and head to the Keys...check and check It's so nice to wake up to a sunrise over the ocean and know that freedom has arrived for another summer!!! Everyone, enjoy your relaxation time and we'll begin this countdown again next year!
23 more days with kids, and they'll be tough ones. I will, however, still be in full vacation mode when you are all headed back.
We have barely a week left. Today is the last instructional day. We have a huge field trip + a lot of students absent, so about half of the school is gone. Monday is holiday, Tuesday + Wednesday are finals, and then basically Thursday and Friday we're not teaching or doing anything. Very unusual, but works for me.
Holiday tomorrow and then 2 days left. I've gotten a preview this weekend of all of the great sleep I'll be getting along with junk food and streaming movies. And let me tell ya, it's been great! No degrees to pursue, no tests to take, no CEU classes, this summer is all about relaxation. Did not know Roku had so many free movie and tv channels!
My last day was Friday. I am posting this message in my hometown, four hours away from where I teach, and decidedly not setting an alarm clock tomorrow morning.
Down to four "full" weeks (if you count this as a full week) -- just made a list last night of what I still need to accomplish curriculum-wise, and I'm hoping it'll all fit! Looking forward though to the stress of awaiting the state testing results...they roll in a few a day, and it's always stressful looking at it in the morning!
I did this on the weekend--it will be full-speed-ahead, don't stop to blink from now until the end of June!
First official day of summer break. It's raining and I have nowhere to go. I'm so excited until I don't know what to do first.
1 more day The kids are just chillin', we're finishing boxing up our classrooms. This is kind of a dumb way to end the year, there are no structured or meaningful activities or anything (lack of admin participation) so a lot of the kids didn't even show up. There will be even less tomorrow.
7 days left. I like most of my kids, but I will be very glad to never have to see some of them ever again (or deal with their parents, or see the other teachers and administrators at this school). I've already checked out.
Only two more days left. Some of the kids are really making it hard to leave. I've had multiple students and parents tell me how much they (or their students) enjoyed this year in science. I'm going to miss some of these students terribly. One of them was on the verge of tears when she found out I wasn't coming back. Didn't say anything, just started tearing up when she confirmed it with me. Another one (a junior) just gave me a firm handshake and told me how much he appreciates what I do, and he now realizes how hard teachers' jobs are having taken part in a freshman class as an older student. He said he feels like he needed to apologize to all of his teachers he had as a freshman because of how he probably acted. LOL! But I've lost most of my passion in this career and I don't want to subject any students to the negativity that's bubbling up in me for another year. I am glad that I was able to conceal it well enough this year so that my kids could still enjoy science this year, but I've been on the verge multiple times of saying things I knew I would regret. Plus I am just super-stoked at my upcoming course of study next year. I honestly cannot wait to be studying high level math and engineering. It will be nice to become a student again for a while with more experiences under my belt.
Eight and a half days left with kids. In some ways, that seems endless, but I know it will fly. Working through our last math, science and history units; still need to do the "Growth and Development" unit in health and do one more project in Media Literacy. Have to keep them working right until the end!
3.5 days with kids! (1.5 without!) We have a lot of school-wide fun planned for this week so I know it'll fly by. I'm going to miss the group I have this year, but I'm SO ready for a break!
One more half day tomorrow (full day for teachers -- I'll save most of my cleaning for next week on my own time...help other teachers who are moving rooms/leaving). Going to be an emotional one...haven't ever really cried in front of a class, but tomorrow could be the first...
