I used to have a two week spring break. It was the last week of February and the first week of March. I'm convinced someone on the school board went skiing during break!
We still have two weeks until Spring Break, which is 2 weeks long, and then when we get back it's basically 7ish weeks until Summer. It's starting to get warm around here lately, and I'm really looking forward to summer vacation.
We have 11 weeks left plus spring break in April. I guess that's 54 days. Definitely still feels too early to start counting down, but I really can't wait. This has been a rough year and it'll feel good to put it behind me.
I've been semi counting down since the kinder and 1st grade classes celebrated the 100th day of school. That's just the kind of year this is...
29 days Add in the two personal days I have left to take this year, and that makes it 27. I'm not normally one to count down, but this year has been a rough one. Thankfully, in 13 years, I've only had 2 years where I've been extremely ready for summer.
Not counting down yet. .We have PARCC testing in two weeks. Making the.most of every day for every kid.
28 school days with kids, plus I'm teaching for a week-long summer school program the first week of June. That'll be easy though - it's only 4 hours in the morning, pre-planned/scripted curriculum, and 2 teachers for 20 students. Plus only 2.5 hours of the 4 are actually instruction! The rest is breakfast and lunch. SO. 28 school days.
I'm down to 28 days. This has been a good year. I have enjoyed having the same students for the last few years and most of them are coming back next year. My schedule will be changing for the next year. I will be teaching my regular SPED students in the morning on Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri. In the afternoon I will be teaching one period each of Kindergarten and First grade. Wednesdays will be devoted to teaching school-wide gifted programs. It is going to take some organization and planning, I think I can pull it off.
Same: I rarely count down, with the exception of counting down until state testing, and that's only to determine best possible pacing for math (last night I figured out that I need to double up content on one day...and if I do that, I'll cover everything just before testing...yikes) We're somewhere in this range, but probably a little bit lower. Too lazy to count. Staff and students though is the same for us, I believe (since our last day is a Friday and a full day at that...I think)
I'm really not counting down--there's lots of learning left this year! I'm mapping out what still needs to get done, and I am panicking a little with how little time is left. I have a great group of kids, but it's a big (32) class with lots of needs, both academic and social-emotional. The last 10 months held several personal challenges, so, while I love what I do, this summer break will be especially welcome.
My testing countdown is easy - 4 days. We definitely don't fit in all of math before testing. I do what I can, but we still have 6 weeks left after testing, so it's just not possible. We got through 10 of our 12 chapters in our math curriculum and now are doing a crash course through measurement conversions and volume, since those are tough concepts and are always on the CAASPP. I will circle back to our last two math chapters (measurement and geometry) after testing when we can take some more time. My kids struggled through fractions this year (and 5th grade includes a lot of fractions), so we had to slow down a lot so I could make sure they got it. That sounds like quite a schedule next year! You will definitely never be bored I guess! Lots of variety. I get the mentality of wanting to make the most of every day, but I can do that while still counting down. This has been a really rough year for me and I got a new job for next year, so I'm counting down because I'm looking forward to a fresh start after a difficult year. I'm still in it for the kids, though.
43 days now. Since we have A/B days it's nice to think about it as 21 different lessons left to plan and teach. Yes, I'm literally down to checking the calendar each day. I'm so ready for this year to be over.
The countdown on my board says 22 days. Seniors have 10 fewer than that. The last four days are exams, and half days.
19 days now--and we test this week! This is the latest we have ever tested, and while I'm glad to have so much time to teach my content, I'm really starting to see end-of-school-itis in my kiddos.
OMG! We just started last week. Since our spring break was super late this year, testing is later, too.
We started last week...and finished last week. It's all in one week. Including science and PE for 5th. It was intense.
My 5th grade team would kill me if I did that to them. I gave them a three week window--but that includes make up days and two all day field trips.
My countdown is down to 18 days... Included in that is a field trip to the zoo and field day, plus a few other short extra things that will make it seem shorter. And we're doing F&P testing, which takes forever. I'm so ready to be done!!!
