This game is amazing! During "free play" at Math Corps the kids are allowed to use the iPads for anything but social media and I encouraged them to play 4 Pics 1 Word. I happen to love word games and reading/writing in general. These kids get so into it! Some struggle but learn quickly and love to help their peers. It teaches word association, spelling, and abstract thinking. It's also a nice break from the math apps they're asked to use, ha ha. The room starts buzzing and they're learning without even realizing it. Have you found computer or tablet games that are good "undercover" learning tools?
Careful- The word 'cup' has a picture of a bra. (A few of us at our school thought it would be good for the kids. We've taken screen shots and put them on the ActivBoard so we only use appropriate ones.)
Oooo, thanks, Giraffe! My room doesn't have a Smart Board but it does have a projector and screen and I can hook the iPad up through the computer (LOVE working in the media center!) so I should look into that. Then we can play as a whole group sometimes as well. Good idea, thank you! I have a Nook so I have to make do with two spin-off apps but they're basically the same thing. I like 4 Pics 1 Word better because they are more abstract. The ones I have are mostly objects that are in all four pictures which, to me, is way too easy. The one that totally stumped me was a picture of a bunch of countries' flags, a conference table with a lot of empty chairs, a crowd of people and one other image (don't remember). The word was "plenty."
(line) (children) LOL The 'children' one stumped for a few minutes. I like the ones that you have think about.
