I would like to do calendar math with my 3rd graders. I have heard about Everyday counts calendar math and it sounds great, but I don't have the money to drop on that! What kinds of ideas can anyone provide for adding to my calendar math? I have taught 5th and 6th in the past and other than observing calendar math in the primary grades, I don't have any experience. Thanks for any help you can offer!

I did my own thing and emulated the EC program last year with 5th grade - without the kit. This year I am going to use the Calendar Math kit with 3rd grade. I completely believe in it. The repetition is a big plus. My 5th graders were more prepared for middle school math than any other group I've taught.

I student taught in 3rd grade and my co-op teacher did elapsed time, and time zones, patterns (challenging ones), graphs, place value, money, temperature....I'll try to think of more.
