I've now interviewed for 3 aide positions and all 3 have offered me a job.

    1. An elementary sped ( about 25 minutes away)
    2. Middle school resource (too far away so won't take it)
    3. High school sped (in my home town)

Now to decide! I'm thinking of going for the elementary aide due to bigger school district and better chances of moving up to a teacher position.

I didn't get the teacher position I interviewed at. :(

Take the one that is the grade level you want to teach.

I agree with Special-t. What grade level do you want to teach? If it's elementary, then great! But I wouldn't just choose it because it's a "bigger district". They could have openings next year, they could have none. Pick what's going to make you the most happy.

Out of curiosity, how far is "too far" for #2?

HR called me this morning and I accepted the elementary school aide position. I will still apply for teacher positions but for right now, I'm happy with my decision.

the "too far" school is an hour away. It's the district I had my teacher interview in but didn't get the job. We would have moved for the teacher job but I don't want to for the para job. There still *may* be a kinder job opening up for me but I have to wait to see if they get the numbers for that hire.

I am certified to teach pk-6 and have an early childhood specialization. I prefer to teach kindergarten!

If your specialty is early childhood, the elementary aide position makes the most sense. Luckily it is not the one that is far away. I tend to shy away from commuting, when possible.

Yay! It seems like elementary was the better choice all around; glad you are happy with your decision. I did the hour commute this past year. You are smart to avoid that commute, it is awful!
