I made a little thread about this earlier, but I wanted to share here! Next year I will be an assistant principal at a middle school in my district! I'm so excited to start this new adventure. :) :) :)

If anyone would like to teach agriculture education in Oklahoma, I have it on good authority that they will give emergency certification this year. There is a major shortage.

As of last night the school board voted and I can officially spill the beans...

    What grade and/or subject? 4th

How long have you been trying? Began my credential program in January and began applying in hopes of somewhere hiring an intern in April-ish.

How many resumes did you send out? I applied for every 2nd-6th job opening in my district and almost every one posted within a 45 minute commute. (I knew that, being an intern, it was a long shot, and I couldn't afford to be picky if I wanted out of my current career so I could focus on teaching and not have to work AND student teach AND go to school.)

How many interviews or job fairs? 4 interviews between 3 schools, and 1 job fair where I have 5-7 interviews.

    What general geographic area? California

I am excited, yet terrified. I student taught for 1 semester (about 180 hours in the classroom), but never had 100% of the class and lesson planning and such...

What grade and/or subject? Middle & high school librarian
How long have you been trying? I've been thinking about making the move into a non-classroom position for a couple of years, but this is the first year I actually buckled down and put myself out there.
How many resumes did you send out? I applied to schools within my district during the early transfer season, so I didn't have to send out resumes. I just clicked "Apply" in the system. I applied for about 5 jobs this way.
How many interviews or job fairs? I had three interviews, two of which turned into offers. I declined one offer and accepted the other.
    What general geographic area? Southwest

Congratulations! I'm sure you're going to do a great job!

I'm leaving my current position as a second grade teacher. I'm moving to a district much closer to my house. I will be a 3rd grade title 1 reading teacher.

I started sending out resumes in April, interviewed for a different position, and did not get the job. Applied for a different position in May, had 2 interviews, and today a job offer.

    I am in SouthEastern Ohio.

    What: 3rd ELA/SS
How long have I been trying: Since before graduation in May
How many resumes did you send out?: I filled out lots of district apps, applied to many positions, and emailed at least 30 principals
How many interviews: Got it after my 2nd ever interview! They only met with me once and let me know 2 days later! It still felt like I was on the hunt forever because no one ever responded to applications I submitted or resumes I sent until I started pursuing this district. It's a tough district to get into, too, so I feel very lucky!

    What grade and/or subject? Kindergarten!

How long have you been trying? I just graduated in May with my bachelors.

How many resumes did you send out? Too many to count, I applied at over 20 schools! I started applying and watching job boards since March.

How many interviews or job fairs? 2 job fairs, 1 large district screening interview, 2 actual interviews. One I found out later that day that they were not interested (I knew this after leaving the interview - didn't feel a good connection!) The other interview, I was told at that interview that she wanted a second interview from me with the K team, and a few days after that interview I was hired!

    What general geographic area? Illinois

What grade and/or subject? 8th grade English/language arts!

How long have you been trying? I started looking in February and was hired in May, so about three months.

How many resumes did you send out? I sent out five (two private schools, three school districts).

How many interviews or job fairs? I got four interviews from the same school district. I didn't hear back from the private schools or the other two school districts. I heard back from my first and third interviews right away and was told no. My second interview took some time to check out my references and student teaching supervisors before they offered me the job. I cancelled my fourth interview because I accepted the job!

LOVING watching this list grow! Also, I know our former kindergarten teacher turned author has accepted a position as a Literacy Strategist.

I've been lurking around here for a while so I made an account tonight. I was offered a position at the end of June at a school I worked in last year and I am so excited. The board meeting isn't until next week, so I will post my excitement here.

How long have you been trying? Graduated in May 2012. Since then I've done different jobs in schools and subbing.
How many resumes did you send out? No idea. So many.

What general geographic area? Missouri (St. Louis County)
