I landed a job in my ideal district! I'm so excited! (I took a major risk in declining a really good offer in another district for the chance at this district). I'll be teaching SPED K-4 - some self-contained, but mostly EBD behavioral support/inclusion. Super excited! ---Now I am nerve racked reading as much as I can about teaching academic subjects as my student teaching experience was almost fully behavioral support and social skills classes----I will overcome! Just about done with my first book which was recommended by Emily Bronte a while ago "The First Days of School." Wow, is this book ever great! Have a few other books on the way recommended by SPED teachers. Looks like I have my summer reading all lined up!

This thread has been so helpful, I just had to post! I will be teaching 2nd grade in Colorado! I started applying in April and was offered a position last week. I applied to about 15 jobs, went to one fair, and had 10 interviews. Phew. All those interviews in about 2 weeks time, I am so glad it is over and so happy I get 2nd grade again! I am soooo beyond thrilled.

Yes! He was technically my co-teacher's student teacher, but he taught in my room for the whole semester too, so I consider him mine lol
Thanks, IDK if you've been following our story but I've posted about it a few times. It took him 2 years to find a teaching job and it was part time then he was upgraded to fill time split between 2 different schools and then finally full time at 1 school. On April 15th they got noticed the school was closing and I posted a vent. He was offered a part time job that was upgraded to full time yesterday. This will be the 4th school in 5 years due to Catholic school closures. Let's hope this is the last one for a while.
I do remember the story...he should be proud...NJ isn't an easy place to land a job. Here's hoping it's something that is long-lasting! But I can't remember- are you guys North Jersey?
I just signed my contract for next year does that count? I know it's not new, but since I've been only teaching here for 6 weeks, for me it's great news
