Better late than never. A friend of mine told me back in June her school was looking to hire another teacher and the district finally approved the position in October. I applied two weeks ago, interviewed last week, and accepted the position today (paperwork is next Monday and I go to the board on the 7th). What grade and/or subject?: K-12 Online Teacher. Basically the kids take classes online through various programs (Connections, Plato, etc.) and we grade any physical homework they have, tutor when necessary, monitor attendance, issue report cards, and conference with parents and students. How long have you been trying?: 1.5 years How many resumes did you send out?: Soooo many. How many interviews or job fairs?: 1 job fair and a dozen or so interviews What general geographic area?: Ohio

Hey guys, I have been working in this new job for about 4 months now. I think I told that I got this job but did not fill out the questions I don't think. What grade and/or subject?: 6th grade and 8th grade language arts How long have you been trying?: I had taught at a private school last year and was looking to get into a public school over the course of that year. How many resumes did you send out?:Quite a few but almost all of them were sent using the ODE job search website. Just one click and you have applied for the job. How many interviews or job fairs?: Only had one interview. I did not think I would get the job, but just went for it anyway. There were 300 applicants for 4 middle school jobs at this new middle school addition. What general geographic area?: Big urban city in Ohio.
How is the new school going so far? LOVE that you are working at one of the best systems in the region.
Going awesome so far. We have long periods 1 hour 45 minutes. We don't have textbooks but we do have a lot of other resources. They gave us teachers a macbook air, ipad, apple tv. All the students have their own samsung chromebook laptop. This is awesome as I can use online testing (grades multiple choice for me!), we can look things up any time. I use google apps for pretty much everything. My class is almost paperless. The kids use google docs for everything - presentations, papers, spreadsheets, etc.
