When you accept an offer/receive a contract, let us know so we can share the good news! What grade and/or subject? How long have you been trying? How many resumes did you send out? How many interviews or job fairs? What general geographic area? I can't wait to start this year's list so we can all start celebrating with each other! Happy job hunting!
The New Teacher Finder is something that the NYC DOE does. You have to apply to be a part of it. When you submit your application and it is approved, I believe you can start looking for teaching jobs in the city, become visible to principals, etc. Kind of like OLAS for New York City.
I was offered a job this past Wednesday! I will not sign my contract until the board meeting at the end of April though. I graduated this past December with a degree in Early Childhood. I sent my resume to two different districts. Interviewed for both. I live in the midwest. It is first grade. I AM THRILLED!
NYC emailed me to let me know that my application was accepted into the New Teacher Finder this past weekend, and I just got a call for an interview next week for a district on Long Island! I wasn't aware of an opening, so I figure that they had to have gotten my information from the mass mailing I did a week and a half before Spring Break. Encouraging that all that tedious effort might have paid off, even just a little bit! Sometimes it feels like I'm just wasting money on postage, haha.

Congratulations!!!! I got my first teaching job, also teaching first grade, about 11 months ago! I am THRILLED for you! First grade is SO MUCH FUN!!
I was released after 12 years in the district last year due to declining district enrollment. The school has lost about 20% of student population since I have been teaching there. I just found out that they let almost 11% of teachers go at the last board meeting, but guaranteed the super a 6% raise and hired a new cross country coach. Board has cut 1/2 of high school electives in the past two years. I applied for numerous jobs last year, but due to my experience in teaching, I wasn't even called for interviews. Every position I applied for was filled by a first year teacher and most only interviewed 1st year teachers because they are so much cheaper (I have 17 years in). Got called for an interview in February and have been jumping through all the hoops for a teaching job at a state school. Everything is finally approved and I start in mid-April and will be teaching 7-12 vocational education.

I know I've seen other posts about getting a job. Don't forget to brag here so we can keep track and whoop it up collectively!
You can add 2 more to the list. I'll be teaching 4th grade next year and my husband will be teaching physics and calculus.
