    That's painful!

That article is hilarious! I'm surprised any of them find their way to their events. I know some say they wait until they're done but still :lol:

My teenage child would not be going to the Olympics without a tight leash!

Some of these speed runners go so quickly that when the camera is on the ground focusing on their legs, it looks like CGI.

I love the hurdles, by the way.

Both the USA men and women swim teams are awesome!
I didn't see the end of the men's volleyball game where they
were 2 games ahead, and they let the other team; did not catch which country it was; catch up, 2-2. Did the US team win?
That short Jamaican lady can really run. Two golds in 2 Olympic showings is cool.

Rebel~the men's volleyball team lost in 5 sets. Very disappointing.

Great Britain won 6 Gold medals today...holy crow!!!

How crazy is it that Michael Phelps (who is 6'4"- I just looked it up) looked SHORT during the interview!!!

I know! You know his "wing span" is 6'7" even though he's just 6'4. I think that's amazing!

I really don't blame him for retiring now. It's good to go out on top.

His legs are disproportionately short. That's probably why.

And, I bet he'll do a relay in Rio....... His mama will make him!

I'm hoping that Murray wins the gold in tennis. GBR needs it!

Let me just say, too, that John McEnroe is doing a great job as the "color" commentator. He's funny without being obnoxious, he knows enough about the sport to give you the inside knowledge, and he doesn't try to dominate the other commentator. Much better than when he played!

And since this thread has really turned in to the Lochte love fest, I have to share what I read on Twitter.

"You know that Ryan Lochte is pretty much a genius" Comments NOT heard at the #Olympics2012

"Headline: Lochte strings a sentence together!"

    LOL. Poor baby!

I would be awful at interviews, too.

And, if you chose every bad moment in my classroom over the last 8 years (student teaching, subbing, and my 5 years in my own classroom), you could probably put together a montage worse than Lochte's interviews.

Really getting a "kick" out of the synchronized swimmers!!!

I know lots of people think it's lame, but being a swimmer myself I know how hard that stuff is. Sure the make up is silly, but they hold their breath for minutes. Plus, sculling with half their bodies out of the water! That's hard stuff!

I wish I was watching synchronized swimming instead of basketball. Basketball is SO not my favorite sport, and I can turn on my TV and watch it 8 month out of the year anyway. Boo.

I love watching synchronized swimming most out of all the kinds of swimming events that there are. I also like rhythmic gymnastics.

I am most certainly not a fan of rhythmic gymnastics, but I do like synchronized swimming:) Unfortunately, they just switched to track cycling... AGAIN!!! They only showed one group of swimmers. They've been showing track cycling for days, let's see some new stuff.

Love it, Caesar! Thanks for sharing!

Loved reading all those! Number 22 was great!

I'm very proud of Murray though! Congrats to him!

I could fix a lot of his problems.

I am a frustrated sports fan.

    NBC- basketball (boo  )
ESPN- Rain delayed Pocono race (boo. )
My Tigers are playing the Indians- except I am out of market (boo. )
MSNBC- Thankfully just switched from Water Polo to beach volleyball. Much better. It would be a huge yay if it were May/Walsh or Kessy/Ross.
(I was OK with water polo at first. But they have been showing it every.single.day. It gets old, people!)

Of course, whoever wins this volleyball match will be up against the winner from the May/Walsh vs. Italy match, so it is important.

giraffe~I saw that round. I was glad that it was who it was! That other team was the one that dealt May/Walsh their only set loss this Olympics. I tuned into NBC and at first it was Equestrian jumping (yay!), but they have gone back to water polo (boo!)...Like you, it was fun the first couple of days, but this is getting stupid!

I was also enjoying the jumping. And then was 'treated' to more water polo.

Luckily, driver intros are happening. So racing will be happening soon. So long, water polo!!

Hopefully they'll get back to jumping or something other than water polo...do they not realize that we're tired of it by now?!?!

I'm over water polo. I missed the jumping but will watch the replay. I'm curious wtf happened to the US. They are not sitting pretty right now. And I <3 McLain Ward. When I was a lot younger (like maybe 12), he was in a grand prix in Cleveland and we saw him earlier in the week. I wanted his autograph but didn't have anything so he signed my jeans :D So did Margie Engle, who's my other favorite jumper. I think I still have those jeans lol.

stg, I think show jumping team medals are done tomorrow. Saudi Arabia is ranked number one going into the last round. Germany and France were both eliminated. Very, very strange!

One of the most moving displays of sportsmanship and respect I've seen--at the end of one of the 400m heats, a 19 year old runner from Grenada went up to Oscar Pistorius (the South African runner who runs with prosthetics) and gestured that he wanted to exchange their race numbers.

dgp~I saw one jumper for Germany and one for France..they both had penalties so that doesn't surprise me...Saudi Arabia being first, that's a surprise! I just don't seem them as jumpers.

stg, definitely not! I was really surprised! It is nice to see some fresh blood in the sport though.

I was disappointed with one of the German riders yesterday. His horse refused and as he turned away from the jump and was thus facing away from it, he yanked at his horse's face and hit him (her?). That's something we were always taught to never do. You can give one smack when you're still right in front of the fence but that's it. Otherwise, they don't know why you're hitting them!

They were talking about a couple of the horses refusing yesterday. Both did just fine today. I have never even thought about smacking my horse. A firm tug and a firm shout is enough. I know smacking, especially like the German rider, is bred from frustration, but there are better ways to deal with it.
