Men have 6 apparatuses, women 4. Men have 8 possible gymnastics medals- team, all-around, and each of the 6 apparatuses. Women have 6 possible gymnastics medals- team, all-around, and each of the 4 apparatuses.
The 'big ones' are done (team and all around). Now, we watch finals on a different apparatus (or two) each night.

I've been reading some articles. Apparently, Phelps has a girlfriend (of 5 months) that he has been hiding.
And Lochte misses hamburgers. And is going to an island for a week (probably Bali).
I say we need to take a trip to Bali!!!!

BandNerd...I think it's the Egos that get in the way of our players now... Wish it was the college kids...

Maybe so, Diznee. I just wish they wanted to be Team USA, you know?!

Gabby is too cute for words.

Giraffe, I've been seeing "party" clips of Lochte all day, too. Oy. He's a mess. He needs us to get him in line.

I think that Mustafina (whatever) was not classy when she was smiling and hugging when Gabby made that mistake. Not classy at all. I get that you're excited about your gold medal, but at least wait until she's DONE.

Off topic. But, I assume we all have the same commercials (except for local ones). The new show 'Revolution' seems to liberally borrow from the Hunger Games serious, minus the actual games.

giraffe~its seems like a good show. It has Billy Burke in it and I love him. And I think it will take at least 3 of us to whip that boy into shape.

Oh, I might watch it. But, the world being completely different than we know it, young girl (who meets young boy) with a bow, 'saving' the world.... Add it up, and you are pretty darn close to the Hunger Games!

Maybe we should go to Florida instead of Bali. I'm thinking that would be better financially ;)

I could meet you there. Maybe he will take us to Bali. He also said he was moving. We could unpack and decorate for him!!

I really like this guy from Grenada. I was an instant fan when he changed name tags yesterday.

We're going to have to go to LA. That's where he said he's moving! I'm good with that!

I thought the Russian gymnast (I call her Mufasa and said it like the hyenas in the Lion King) was just horrible. She was GLOATING! Boo. I'm telling you, I have Cold War flashbacks during the Olympics.

BandNerd... I haven't watched the bball games... but I was thinking before your comment that it's a shame that they don't let the college players get out there like they used to.

I think the NBA stars are just thinking how it would be a "notch" in their careers, not winning as a team.

I'm OK with LA. I would have to fly instead of drive, but I've never been. Although, he will probably be harder to find in LA than he is in Gainesville

I felt so bad for him, especially considering he's from China, and all that pressure. It was a crazy race, but with the story about him before, then what happened...oy, I'm gonna cry again.

And now, back to water polo. Seriously! It's like NBC is putting in a movie on a Friday afternoon. Here's ANOTHER water polo game...that'll take up a couple hours...

The race was delayed, too (at least I didn't notice a 'live' in the top corner). So NBC knew that this was going to happen after airing his background!

I am SOOO over water polo. Every.single.day. I think I would rather the ping pong I stared at for a half hour yesterday....

That guy from Grenada is a real class act!

I'm still laughing at this!!

    No, I didn't!! What happened?!

My hubs is convinced that his boss is secretly watching the Olympics on his TV because he can hear him yelling occassionally.

Is it the same Chinese guy that got hurt right before the Beijing
    race?

Yes, it was the same Chinese guy. They did a big interview where he talked about coming back, and believing in himself, and how he was ready, yada yada.

Then the race...the gun goes off, and he fell on the first hurdle, grabbing his Achilles. About 4 or 5 others fell also throughout the race. He gets up and hops off toward the locker room, then came hopping back, and hopped down the whole 100M. He stopped at the last hurdle, kissed it, then hopped off with the help of the other competitors. It really did look like his swan song. Very sad!

Locally, there are 3 stations airing the Olympics pretty much all day and night. Rarely are they showing the same event (although yesterday 2 were running the women's soccer game), and they frequently announce what's running on the other networks, so we are able to see most of what we want to.

kc~that is sad for him. :( But what spirit! And  to the other runners that helped him across the finish line. As a friend said on facebook, this is what the Olympics is all about.

MrsC~I'm still upset that both men's team is out of that...but I've heard those Brazilian men are awesome!

Women's indoor volleyball is about to start here...US vs. Dominican Republic.

Watching some weird indoor cycling (again, they never show anything else). But it's a whole bunch of cyclists going on the track at the same time and they have to stay behind this lead "moto/bike" until the entire group reaches 50km/hour and then the lead bike goes to the side and the race begins. It's strange. Also, the bikes don't have gears or breaks.
