My position just got officially switched to first - which was my absolute DREAM grade level!! I am so excited I can hardly contain myself!!!!!
Congrats to all of those who have found jobs for next year! I am BLESSED to be staying at my school for a 3rd year and I am celebrating with each of you who have found a job and those who will be locating a job for next year within the coming months

Thanks for this forum. I have my first interview with a large district this upcoming Monday. I'm in an ACP, and this will be my first year teaching. Congratulations to everyone who has gotten a job for next year!! I recently moved to Houston after getting married in December (hubby got a job here) and the job market here is ROUGH! I've sent out about 30-40 resumes and have applied to about 10 districts and some Catholic schools (I taught at Catholic schools in Baton Rouge where I'm from). For weeks I haven't heard ANYTHING but "sorry, the position has been filled" -- about 95% have gone completely unanswered! I met one principal at a job fair who told me he would definitely contact me (and he put a star at the top of my resume so I knew that had to be a good sign, right?). I was so excited! It was a third grade position at an inner city Catholic school and I absolutely loved the principal -- feel like we really vibed and were on the same page. But I didn't hear anything for 3 weeks so I finally broke down and emailed. He wrote back and said they didn't have an opening. Grrr I was so upset...I felt like I had lost my dream job! So I said "thanks, please keep me in mind if something comes up" Well.....yesterday he emailed me back and said that something did come up!! The third grade teacher had just announced her retirement and there would be an opening and he really wants to meet with me again! We've been emailing back and forth, and I'm going to interview on Wednesday morning!! He said to come around 9 so we can "chat" and he can show me around before he has to teach a class at 950 (he's still Assistant P right now...officially P next year). I'm so nervous because this really is the job I've had my heart set on for a while. But I'm terrified of what will happen if I don't get it since all of my other letters have gone unanswered! Anyway, wish me luck I have a really good feeling about this!
Thank you! Hopefully I will know by the end of this week (fingers crossed) so if I get it, I will post!
Had my first teacher interview ever today! I must say.... I think I did pretty well! Hoping I get some feedback soon!
WOOHOOO! Signing my letter of intent to teach Language Arts at Westridge tomorrow! YEEYUH! > How long I've been trying: I just started applying about 2 months ago, so I feel very lucky that I got interviewed and offered a job so soon. How many resumes I've sent out: I've completed about 5 online applications for various districts in the KC area. How many interviews I've set up: I have had one interview for a gifted ed facilitator and another interview set up for a SPED facilitator position tomorrow that I have since cancelled. Area: Kansas City, KS.

Thanks, all! I think it helped that I had done a bit of research and was aware of the changes they had made to the GLEs to gear ELA more towards college and career readiness writing. I watched a video the Dept. of Ed. posted right before my interview, so I was able to highlight those lessons that featured more writing to sources and written arguments, etc..I'll be teaching 7th & 8th grade English and Communications. I hope my good fortune is contagious and all of those here who are still looking get their dream-job, too! Thanks again for all the help and advice over the last few weeks!
