Been offered a job teaching 3rd grade for 2012-2013! This will be my first year with my own class! I worked at the school as an aide and made it clear I wanted my own classroom. The administration knew that was what my goal was, after doing a good job as an aide I was offered a job teaching 3rd It is a growing private christian school, test scores are very good across the whole school. (Not that that means a good school necessarily). The school was also recently named in the top 20 private schools in central Ohio, we have good company in that list with some of the top private schools in the state. So I didn't have to send out any resumes etc I was also offered a job coaching jv basketball for a small college next year! Gona be a crazy but good year!
Sizzla, you have made my morning, neighbor! So glad to see this news and know you're already on the list.
I have an interview tomorrow! I graduated in December of 2010, spent the spring semester of 2011 as a long-term sub, and worked this school year as an aide. The school I'm interviewing at has 4 open positions - one in first grade, one in second grade, one third grade reading, and one third grade writing. Fingers crossed that one of those positions is offered to me!

I have a job!!! I am a new member here and not well known, but I wanted to throw out a huge THANK YOU for the awesome advice I've read on this board. I really studied and took the good advice given here and it really gave me great confidence. I was up against 8 other candidates and went through 3 interviews. I am still in shock that they picked me! I was offered a second grade position in my dream school, which is a private Christian school right here in my neighborhood that pays very well, offers great benefits, and seems to be such a positive and supportive environment. I couldn't be happier. Thanks so much!!
congrats! especially finding a private christian school that offers all that haha. I work at a christian school but i have to get benefits from my wifes job.
Congrats Sophiesmom, and to all the recent hires for the 2012-2013 school year. It's always encouraging to see all the hard, job hunting out there paying off. I hope this encourages others who are still seeking teaching jobs to keep looking.
I am desperately looking for a job right now. I was called for a second interview by a private Muslim school but I declined because (based on my impression/gut feeling) I knew it would not work long term. I am praying hard that I do not regret my decision but I am a little bit older and have learned to trust my gut. It just wouldn't have worked and why get into something knowing full well it is not going to work. But I digress...... congrats everyone, reading your stories gave me hope.

Thanks so much for the well wishes! I met with my new team today (there are only 2 other 2nd grade teachers). They are so kind and eager to help me get acclimated. I was also put on the sub list for the remainder of the year so I can start to learn my way around and see ow things work. I got a call to come work tomorrow. Woo-hoo! Thanks again for the kind words and congrats to everyone else! BTW, I don't think I mentioned this before, but this is my 3rd year of job searching. I've been subbing in the public school system and private schools since 2009. I taught for 5 years before having my son and stayed home with him for 5 years. When he started Kindergarten, the economy tanked and massive teacher layoffs ensued. So, 3 years later my patience and persistence have paid off. The moral of the story is DON'T GIVE UP!

Yep I won't move until July because I want to see my current lease through without having to pay a fine, but I'm definitely already checking out apartments. My job is pretty centrally located so there are tons of areas to look in- I'm very excited! When I moved here I had a total of TWO apartment complexes to choose from that were the cheapest in the area and the absolute most I could afford. I already have a list of over 25 places to check out for my new job, and what I'm paying in rent now is pretty much the high end for rent prices- many are 200-300 less per month than what I'm paying now, and come with extras like fitness centers and pools, both of which I pay separately for now. I've also already made a couple of friends in the area through meetup groups. It's also going to be a lot easier to move 2.5 hours away rather than across the country!
