I had been trying for two years. I was beginning to think I was irrelevant in the minds of school districts, but I didn't stop trying. I had several screening interviews, but zero building level interviews until now.

Out of nowhere last week, a principal invited me for an interview regarding a fourth grade position. I had a good feeling after the interview because the principal seemed to eat up everything I said and often commented how my philosophy tied into the school's. I was offered the position the very next morning.

Having been hired is still surreal to me. After two years of nothing, to be hired in the middle of March in this economy is a rarity. I feel very blessed and fortunate.

Because I know the pain of going month after month, year after year without a teaching job is like, I feel it is my duty to help anyone on this forum willing to go the extra mile in getting that interview.

About 50 in the last two years.

How many interviews or job fairs?

I went to six job fairs in the last two years.

What general geographic area?

St. Louis

And of course what grade and/or subject?

Fourth grade for the 2010/2011 school year.

Your story gave me goosebumps! You are very blessed! Congratulations! I have a teaching positiong, so I cannot complain, but I have been trying for 3 years to get into the public schools. I am praying its my turn. Financially its hard staying at a private school.

Ooh, ooh, me too! I don't have my credential yet, but I'm so proud of getting a job as an After-School Educator and so eager to start.

Dozens.

How many interviews or job fairs?
I interviewed for one other job in education, back in March, that I didn't get. This was the second time I'd been called for an interview and I ended up interviewing three times for this position!

What general geographic area?
CA Bay Area

And of course what grade and/or subject?
K-5 After-School Educator. I'll be doing academics/ homework help with a class of Ks or 1st graders (don't know yet), plus an enrichment activity with a mixed-age group.

Since December

How many resumes did you send out?
I applied for 70+ jobs. (I had a color resume, I spent at least 20 hours perfecting it.)

How many interviews or job fairs?
Five interviews. I made a list of job interview questions, from atozteach, and I practiced answering whenever I had a long drive. :) I attended one job fair in December, however most of the districts were not actually hiring. They were mostly just handing out fliers and saying, "not hiring, maybe later."

What general geographic area?
Western state

How many resumes did you send out? Oh dear. Around 50, I'd guess.
How many interviews or job fairs? 1 job fair, 9 interviews counting 2 for the job I got.
What general geographic area? Kentucky (Is anyone else going to be in KY?)
And of course what grade and/or subject? 6th Grade Math

Thank you! I'm a bit nervous, and I wasn't really planning on ending up in KY, but they offered me a job and I took it so... now I'm just getting excited that I have a job!

Between 150-200.....I finally quit counting.

How many interviews or job fairs?
No job fairs, but I had 6 face to face interviews and one phone interviews this season.

I'll either be in 1st grade or a 3rd/4th grade multi-grade.
