I had sent out only who knows how many resumes. I stopped counting job fairs after 4. Finally, I was hired about two weeks ago for a second grade position in the North Texas area. I know it's difficult right now but don't give up on a teaching job. If you don't have one yet, it just means the position meant for you is on the way. I'm sure everyone around here knows the frustration your going through but keep fighting and don't give up on what you want.

First of all, welcome to the forum! My main suggestion is to check your state's Department of Education website. There is probably a job bank with a common application there. That was how I applied to and was hired by my school.
I got a full year leave replacement! Long Island, NY Library Media Specialist K-5 I have been looking for 5 years for an elementary job, got my library cert last year. This season I had 11 first round interviews, 4 2nd round, 1 demo lesson and a 3rd interview for this job!! So excited!

How long have you been trying? I just graduated in May, so 4 months? How many resumes did you send out? 30+ packets which included cover letter, resume, and a link to my online portfolio How many interviews or job fairs? 1 job fair, but I had screening interviews in 4 counties. I had 1 interview in Virginia in July, but it was a negative What general geographic area? I applied to Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Delaware oh and Colorado (my long shot). The job I got is in Maryland. And of course what grade and/or subject? 4th grade Here's my complicated, long story :: I was hired on as a Pre-K assistant. The P just got notice last week of an opening in 4th grade because a teacher gave notice. After an interview and a demo lesson, I was offered the position. I start September 27th....as a sub. The teacher's resignation has to go before the Board for approval. Until that happens, the P can't technically hire me because there is no opening. Once that goes through, in the beginning to mid October, I'll go in to sign the contract and my pay will switch from sub pay to teacher pay

I applied all over Texas (Houston, Corpus, Beaumont, East Texas, Central Texas, DFW, San Antonio, Austin, and every small town with an opening in between) And of course what grade and/or subject? I will be teaching 4th grade, which is my absolute favorite! I'm certified EC-4 Generalist, 4-8 Generalist, and 8-12 Social Studies.
