Great idea! How long have you been trying? I was in residency this past school year and I began filling out applications in December. So I guess that counts, even though technically I couldn't have been hired at that time. How many resumes did you send out? I would say at least 200, if not more. And that's just paper copies. How many interviews or job fairs? I did 5 job fairs and had 3 interviews. What general geographic area? DFW, TX And of course what grade and/or subject? First grade! (My dream grade) -Ali

I got a job So just wanted to share that I got a job!! I recently moved back to Minnesota from Texas, and thought it would be a struggle to find a job. I had applied and applied, and didn't get any response. So after posting a thread on here about different things to do, I decided to start sending my resume and cover letter directly to the principals. The day I did it, I got two calls for interviews!!! One was for a Junior High, which I couldn't do, but the other one was for a brand new high school So I interviewed, and immediately got asked back to do a "demo lesson". Being as I was going on Vacation for a week, I had to wait til I got back to interview again. Which I was on vacay, I got called to do another interview for an alternative high school, and she had asked me to do a phone interview, which I did. The next day she called and offered me the job I took it, since it paid more and was more up my alley than the other one as far as students go (more at-risk, which I love teaching instead of the "rich kid" setting. I will be the only math teacher in the school and get to design all of the curriculum!! I am super excited I suggest job-seekers start doing what I did, because it worked big time. The first school I interviewed at was very disappointed when I cancelled my "demo" interview, but there was no reason for me to go since I wanted the other job more. Just wanted to share my story
