If you had $200 and had to spend it on yourself, what would you buy and why?

I need to make a trip to Victoria's Secret and pick up a couple of new bras. Well, to be honest, my others are getting worn out and I am tired of pushing the wire back in on one of them.

I also need a couple of pair of shoes-- I am thinking a trip to Kohls would take care of that. My old dress shoes are worn out. I need a black, dk brown, and navy.

If I was not being practical-- I could also pay off a ring that I have on layaway-- it is a funky birthstone ring of my girls' bday months.

Buy a pair of shoes I've recently wanted that cost $100 & save the rest for a rainy day!

On myself? There's so much I want to spend on my kids, and there's nothing that I really need right now, that I don't know that I would enjoy spending $200 on just myself.

Now, if money were no object, and I could spend what I want, I would spend, in this order:

-Spend whatever is necessary to get Stuart back into figure skaing
-Spend between $4000 and $8000 on a new or high quality used oboe for Matthew
-Spend another $500 or so on reed making equipment, so I wouldn't have to buy reeds for Matthew, and I could be sure he was playing on reeds that are perfect for him
-Replace all the kids clothes, shoes, and furiture
    -replace my bedroom furniture
-replace my cooking utensils (oh, there's where I could spend $200 on myself)
-Buy a 4 bedroom house, with a yard, so I don't have to deal with apartment life anymore.

Now, some might notice that I didn't have any large ticket items for William. It's just that he's not into anything right now....so I'm off the hook...for now anyway :D

I've had my eye on these items from Anthropologie... I'm wondering if I can convince dh to let me splurge a bit for back-to-school...

There are several others, but this would max out my $200...

I do need to do a run to the Hanes/Bali outlet and get stockings for the upcoming school year.

Then I would find either a suit on clearance or a bunch of tops to go with the 2 suits I got over the summer.

But, aside from the stockings, there's realy not much I want. I'm pretty low maintainence. For the most part, I would much rather spend money on the kids than on myself.

I would like a Northface jacket for fall and winter. Other than that I really don't need anything. I would probably spend it on my kids or the house.

This is me as well. I've been wanting new kitchen dishes for a long time, maybe I'd use a "found" $200. towards that.

I need more than $200, but I would buy some new work clothes -- all of my stuff from last year no longer fits (in the good way). I have lost over 20 pounds, but several sizes. :)

No question - I would go buy a KitchenAid mixer! I want one SO bad, for my birthday, my husband started me a KitchenAid fund! He drew a mixer on an envelope - and drew a bowl next to it - with $ amounts on the bowl. It's so cute! :)

I need a new pair of dress casual shoes for school, so that'd be first.

I would really like to add my new son's birthstone to my bracelet witht the girls. That's a when-bills-get-paid-and Christmas-is-over expense...so, never. I'd be happy after that!

honestly? If I had 200.00 I would buy my girls some clothes and shoes, I would get myself a top for orientation, and I would use anything left to catch up on some bills. I am in a place financially right now that I have never been in before, and it is so stressful. I am school shopping at Goodwill this year. It is really hard, and very humbling.

I spend money on myself when I want to. There's just not much I want or need...If I had $200 to 'spend on myself' (which I could do today with the tutoring money in my purse), I'd probably buy some things for the house (I  creating and decorating my 'nest'), or shoes:D I don't have to justify spending money on myself...my dh actually thinks I should do more of it. I bought myself a $6 bunch of flowers yesterday- that made me happy.:)
With my son going back to college in 2 weeks, I'm more focused on what he needs right now...it's kind of that way with moms, isn't it....
Whether it's a cup of Starbuck's coffee, or a new nail color, the bouquet of flowers, or shoes, or a sweater...we all need to take time to treat ourselves now and then. It's not about the amount$$$, it's about just taking a moment for yourself.

Remember what I kept telling myself during my mastectomy/radiations/kids with head lice/ 2 fender benders/ too much to name year:

    This too shall pass.

The "humbling" part can be hard to swallow. But I can promise you-- you'll never look at some things the same way, or take for granted some of the things you used to.

Here's hoping for a quick return to the old "normal" for you.

I would buy another ticket to "Jersey Boys". I saw the musical yesterday in NYC and it was unbelievable! After the show I'd head down to Little Italy and have a fabulous dinner.

I would buy the Martinez Valero pink wedding shoes I've been lusting over. I just can't fathom spending that much money on shoes.
