Hello! I have an interview coming up and I have to teach a demo lesson. The 4TH GRADE students are supposed to get a social studies theme from picking out details from a nonfiction text. I keep having self doubt! Since it's only 20 minutes, should I include the 'model -->guided practice --> independent practice' format? Or could I just go straight from my anticipatory set into the guided practice, where I tell them "We're going to be answering this big idea question by reading about ____. Lets practice on THIS text together, and then you will do it by yourself (or with a partner). Normally I would have liked to make this a lot more thorough but since it's only 20 minutes I keep freaking out! Any advice would help!
Generally if it's only 20 minutes, they want to watch you teach and start the independent work. At least that's what I've experienced.
