Anyone doing anything to celebrate the 1000th Day of School with their 5th graders?
I don't think we do anything special.

If your school has a 180 day student year, then the 100th day of fifth grade is the 1000th day of their school career.
I was thinking that you meant it felt like 1000 when you work with fifth graders!
Hadn't planned to do anything, but I guess I will. Maybe dress up to look like they're 1000 years old. Afterall, can't do anything that isn't on the freakin' standards.

Each fifth grade class collect $1000 pennies.
See if class or grade level can record 1000 books that have been read through out elementary school.
Write 1000 nouns.
Wow - this is a pretty cool idea. I like it!

My fifth grade team (206 kids, 8 teachers) is going to make 1000th Day of school hats, make 1000 valentines to distribute to local personal care homes, read in class for 1000 seconds, make 1000 stew, collective make a paper chain with 1000 links-each link having a math problem with an answer of 1000. We, as a team, will also compile a booklet of 1000 School Memories. We are also going to relay on a few of our regular 100th day activities.
Any other ideas?
